CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. – After a 2-0 week, Mia Mayerova was selected as OVC Singles Player of the Week, the league announced Tuesday afternoon.

Mayerova, a sophomore from Bratislava, Slovakia, won both of her matches to help the Southeast Missouri tennis team clinch the No. 2 seed for the upcoming OVC Tournament. Against Lindenwood she played at No. 2 singles for the first time this season and defeated Megan Caffin 6-3, 6-3 to clinch the match. Mayerova followed that win up moving up to No. 1 in the lineup taking down Jovana Nikolic from Tennessee State 6-4, 6-1 also to clinch the match.

Mia and the rest of the Redhawk team will kick off the OVC Tournament Friday at noon when they battle with No. 7 seed Southern Indiana.
