SAN ANTONIO, TEXAS — Southeast Missouri women's tennis faced a tough challenge falling 7-0 to the University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA).
UTSA took the doubles point with wins at Nos. 2 and 3 with both matches going to a tiebreak. SEMO's
Maja Bajorek and Mia Mayerova battled but fell 7-6 (7-3) to Giuliana Giardina and Laia Tarazona Peyro at No. 2 doubles. At No. 3 doubles,
Juliette Demunck and
Kristina Kozakova were edged out 7-6 (7-3) by Milica Milosavljevic and Ayra Salim. The duo of
Saskia Soome and
Yontha Tadoum piked up the lone win for the Redhawks at No. 1 doubles, defeating Natalia Castaneda and Valeria Sanchez 6-4.
In singles play UTSA swept the matches despite a hard-fought match at No. 1 singles where Celine Absawi bested Demunck 5-7, 6-2, 10-7.
