Baseball Hosts Missouri State in Final Game of Homestand Tuesday 
Southeast Missouri Baseball (10-7) will host in-state foe Missouri State (10-5) from Conference USA on Tuesday, March 10, in Cape Girardeau, Mo. First pitch is slated for 3 p.m., CT. from Capaha Field closing out a nine-game home stretch for the Redhawks. 
 
Sawyers vs. MSU
Two of the winningest programs in the state of Missouri, the Redhawks and Bears will clash for the 12^th time under 10^thyear head coach Andy Sawyers on Tuesday afternoon. Under Sawyers, SEMO holds a 4-7 record against MSU meeting most recently during the 2024 campaign. A home and home midweek matchup, both the Bears and Redhawks won their respective games in their own park. SEMO downed MSU 5-3 on May 7, 2024, in the last meeting between the two. 
 
Dominating Weekend
SEMO Baseball picked up its first sweep of the season this past weekend as they took all three games from Milwaukee by final scores of 8-2 on Friday, 9-2 on Saturday, and a run-rule 12-2 victory on Sunday. The series marked the first sweep of the season for the Redhawks as the offense exploded for 33 hits, 35 runs, and held the Panthers to just six runs. The defense surrendered just one error and held MKE in check for the entire weekend. RHPs Mason Pennington and Andrew Carroll each had quality starts as the two both went 6.0 innings plus on Friday and Sunday, respectively.
 
Eight Games in a Row
The Redhawks have played their last eight games inside the friendly confines of Capaha Field and hold a 7-1 record in that timeframe. SEMO has won series against Miami (OH) and Milwaukee and took a midweek contest from Evansville (3/3). 
 
Lotta Runs
Over the last eight games, the Redhawks have put together big offensive numbers to the tune of scoring 76 runs over the eight game homestand. SEMO has averaged 9.5 runs-per-game over the last eight, including games with 14, 13, 12, and 10 runs.

The Redhawks have played 12-of-17 games in Cape Girardeau this season and have defended Capaha Field well. SEMO is currently 9-3 at home this season having only lost to Illinois State in the first two games of the season and Miami (OH) just one. Tuesday's contest marks the 13^th game at Capaha Field in 2026. 
 
Five-Straight
SEMO Baseball is on a five-game winning streak that started back on March 1 in a 4-2 victory over Miami (OH) in Cape Girardeau. The Redhawks have already matched their longest winning streak of the season from last year as SEMO won five-straight games from March 22-March 29 in 2025. 
 
Shut the Door
Southeast Missouri has played in 10 games this season in which they have led their opponents after the sixth inning. The SEMO bullpen has done a great job of shutting the door as the Redhawks are a perfect 10-0 when leading after six. RHP Gavin Johnston and LHP Jackson Kranawetter are big pieces as Johnston has 16 Ks and Kranawetter has a team-low 1.00 ERA. 
 
Starter Length
RHPs Mason Pennington and Andrew Carroll joined a list of Redhawks that have started on the mound and gone more than 6.0 innings. The duo each picked up a win this weekend as Pennington won game one having pitched 6.0 innings before Carroll picked up his win on Sunday pitching 7.0. This season, when a Redhawk starter goes 6.0 or more innings, SEMO is 3-0. 
 
Sunday Red
RHP Andrew Carroll was elite on Sunday afternoon against Milwaukee. Carroll, a junior from Scottsdale, Arizona, recorded his career-high 7.0 innings pitched for the Redhawks in his third start of 2026 as SEMO completed the run-rule over Milwaukee. Carroll tied his career best with four strikeouts, allowed two runs, no walks, and lowered his ERA to 6.87 in 2026. He is now 2-1 on the season and has pitched 18.1 innings for SEMO this year. 
 
10 is a Magic Number
In 10 games this season, SEMO Baseball has recorded 10 or more hits against their opponents. The Redhawks are currently 7-3 in those games when they have 10+ hits, including this past week as they had more than 10 hits in all four games. 
 
Runs
Through 17 games this year, SEMO Baseball has scored 129 runs and is outscoring their opponents by a 129-108 mark. The Redhawks are averaging 7.6 runs-per-game and have scored 10+ runs in six games in 2026. When the Redhawks score 10+ runs they are a perfect 6-0 this season. 
 
Big Third Inning
Following last week, the Redhawks continued to explode offensively in the third inning. SEMO is outscoring their opponents 25-6 in the third frame, their largest margin of any inning this season. 25-of-129 runs for the Redhawks have come in the third inning including two more runs in yesterday's finale with Milwaukee. 
 
Hall Yeah
Designate hitter Joe Hall has started all 17 games this season in the DH spot. The Kansas City, Missouri-native is currently on a team-leading 14-game hitting streak. He has also reached base safely in all 17 games and leads the Redhawks in batting average (.406), on-base percentage (.474), and hits (28). 
 
Klein It Up
Center fielder Caleb Klein has started all 17 games this season in the outfield for SEMO. Klein third on the team in batting average (.353), on-base percentage (.444), slugging-percentage (.559), and is second in hits (24). He has reached base safely in all 17 games joining teammate Joe Hall as the only Redhawk to do so this season. 
 
Rare for the Big Man
First baseman Cal Sullivan picked up his first stolen base of the season on Sunday afternoon. Sullivan stole home in the opening inning of Sunday's contest against Milwaukee to give SEMO an early 1-0 lead. Sullivan is the second Redhawk this season to steal home after Demitri Shakotko stole home against Saint Louis (2/17) earlier this season. 
 
The Senior
Senior infielder Carson Schrack has been heating up over the last few games as he recorded his fourth career three-hit day against Milwaukee on Saturday afternoon. The Edgerton, Kansas-native is hitting .370 and is on an eight-game hitting streak that started on Feb. 21 at Ole Miss. He has 17 hits this season including five doubles and 10 RBIs. 
 
Short Stop
Senior Andrew Ramirez had a season-high performance at the plate in Saturday's contest against Milwaukee. Ramirez drove in three RBIs for the fourth time in his career against the Panthers marking his second multi-RBI day in 2026. Ramirez has eight RBIs on the season and is hitting .351 in 12 games played this year.
