Redhawks Renew Rivalry with Murray State Tuesday Evening at Capaha
Southeast Missouri Baseball (20-8) will return to midweek action this week when they host longtime foe Murray State (19-9) for the first time in 2026. First pitch is slated for 6 p.m., CT. from Capaha Field in Cape Girardeau, Mo. 
 
Two For Tuesdays
New to Capaha Field this season, SEMO Athletics has teamed up with local vendors for '$2 Tuesdays' at the park where fans can enjoy $2 concession stand items all season long. Tuesday's game also features a special 'Fill the Hill' Tuesday courtesy of Kohlfeld Distributing. Fans who are 21+ will receive FREE adult beverages courtesy of Kohlfeld Distributing. 
 
Sawyers vs. MSU
The Redhawks and Racers will meet for the 27th time under 10th year head coach Andy Sawyers on Tuesday night. SEMO holds a 16-10 advantage over their longtime rival under Sawyers, including a splitting the season series in 2025. The Racers won the first meeting in Murray, Ky. in a 4-3 ball game before the Redhawks welcomed MSU to Cape Girardeau for an 11-3 victory at Capaha Field. 
 
High Powered Weekend
SEMO Baseball completed its second series victory in OVC play with a 2-1 weekened at Western Illinois. After suffering a 12-2 loss in the series opener, the Redhawks exploded for 36 runs over the final two games winning 17-4 on Saturday (7) and 19-9 on Sunday to improve to 5-1 in OVC play. The Redhawks tallied 17 hits on Saturday and 18 hits on Sunday for an impressive 35 hits over the final two games. Second baseman Brooks Kettering hit his first two home runs of the season the first coming in Friday's contest before crushing a two-run home run in Sunday's game. DH Joe Hall recorded the season's first grand slam in Sunday's finale as he finished the game with a team-high five RBIs. Hall, Kettering, Joe Terranova, Andrew Ramirez, and Cal Sullivan all hit home runs over the weekend. LHP Jackson Kranawetter picked up his team-leading fifth save of the season on Sunday afternoon, pitching the final 3.0 innings of the contest for the Redhawks. 
 
Grand Salami
DH Joe Hall recorded the season's first grand slam for the Redhawks in Sunday's finale. Trailing 2-0 in the third inning, Joe Hall destroyed a ball to left field and gave the Redhawks a 4-2 lead with one swing of the bat. The blast marked Hall's team-leading seventh home run and improved his slugging-percentage to .632 through 28 games. 
 
Back over .300
Infielder Brooks Kettering started to heated up over the weekend in Macomb as he enjoyed eight hits in 13 at-bats for a .615 batting average. He hit two home runs, a double, and drove in six RBIs while recording a .643 on-base percentage. Kettering finished the weekend with a staggering 1.154 slugging-percentage. 
 
Big Bopper
First baseman Cal Sullivan returned to the SEMO lineup this weekend after missing about a week due to injury. Sullivan hit a pair of home runs, one each in Saturday and Sunday's game(s), improving his number to seven home runs. Sullivan is tied for the team lead with Joe Hall in home runs and leads the team in slugging-percentage (.660). He started all three games at first base for the Redhawks in Macomb. 
 
We Got Ice
Southeast Missouri enters Tuesday's game ranked fourth in the Ohio Valley Conference in hit-by-pitch. SEMO has been plunked by opposing pitchers 42 times, led by outfielder Caleb Klein (12). Joe Hall is second on the team with five, followed by Ryan Lopetegui and Dakota Joggerst with four each. 
 
Top Offense
Through 28 games, the Redhawks offense ranks first in the Ohio Valley Conference in batting average. SEMO enters Tuesday's game with a .321 batting average having raised it from .312 prior to the weekend at Western Illinois. DH Joe Hall leads the squad with a .385 batting average and ranks third overall in the OVC individually. 
 
Couple of Season Highs
The Redhawks scored their season high 17 runs on Saturday afternoon only to then break that record on Sunday when they scored 19 runs against Western Illinois. Entering the series, SEMO's season-high was 14 runs against Miami (OH) when they opened the series with a 14-10 victory over the RedHawks in Cape Girardeau. SEMO has scored 228 runs through 28 games and are averaging 8.14 runs-per-game. 228 runs leads the OVC by four runs (USI, 224). 
 
Joe Bombs
Junior Joe Terranova has taken advantage of his opportunities when inserted into the lineup. Terranova has made 15 starts and played in 17 games in 2026 while hitting .280 (14-50) at the plate with four bombs, a pair of doubles, and 13 RBIs. Terranova hit a home run in Saturday's contest and is tied for the second most bombs on the team with Caleb Klein.  
 
Team Defense
SEMO Baseball continues to be atop the Ohio Valley Conference and amongst the nation's best in the field. The Redhawks have committed just 14 errors this season and have a .986 team fielding-percentage, the best in the OVC. CF Caleb Klein leads the squad in fielding percentage with a 1.000. In 52 chances, Klein has recorded 51 putouts and made one assist this season. 
 
Shut the Door
LHP Jackson Kranawetter came into Sunday's contest and pitched the final 3.0 innings and recorded his fifth save of the season. Kranawetter currently ranks second in the Ohio Valley Conference in saves (5) trailing only James Geshel of EIU who has six this season. Overall, Kranawetter has a 2.45 ERA over 18.1 innings pitched and has struck out 22 opposing hitters. He has held his opponents to just a .271 batting average while surrendering just five runs.
