Baseball Travels to Wright State for Final Non-Conference Series
Southeast Missouri Baseball (11-7) will return to action this weekend on the road at Horizon League opponent Wright State (5-9) in Dayton, Ohio for a three-game set. The Redhawks and Raiders will meet at 2 p.m. Friday, 1 p.m., Saturday, and 12 p.m., Sunday from Nischwitz Stadium over the weekend.

Sawyers vs. WSU
10th year Head Coach Andy Sawyers leads his Redhawks into the Buckeye State for the first meeting between the two clubs in his tenure. The Redhawks and Raiders have met in just two series previous all the way back in the 2011 and 2012 season(s). Overall, the two teams have met six times previous as SEMO holds a 2-4 record against WSU.

Clobbering Tuesday
SEMO Baseball hosted Conference USA member Missouri State on Tuesday night in the final game of a nine-game homestand and clobbered the visitors by a final score of 13-6 at Capaha Field. The Redhawks scored all their runs in the second and third innings as defensive miscues from MSU led to a five-run second, and an eight-run third inning to propel the Redhawks to their sixth-straight victory. SEMO pounded out 18 hits and played clean defensively (0 errors) compared to 11 hits and three errors from MSU as they concluded the homestand with an 8-1 record. DH Joe Hall finished 2-4 at the plate with two home runs and five RBIs marking the first multi-HR game of the season for an individual. Six Redhawks had a multi-hit game including Caleb Klein and Dakota Joggerst who each recorded three hits.

Five of 'Em
Senior shortstop Andrew Ramirez had back-to-back performances at the plate to begin this week. Ramirez recorded a season-high three RBIs in Sunday's finale against Milwaukee before tallying two more Tuesday afternoon against Missouri State. He has recorded three RBIs in a game four times in a SEMO uniform and has 10 RBIs on the season heading to the weekend.

Two Quality Midweeks
Freshman LHP Ben Snider has started two-straight midweek contests for the Redhawks including most recently versus Missouri State. Against MSU, Snider pitched the first 3.2 innings of the contest and kept the Bears in check allowing just three runs on four hits. Against Evansville (3/3) last week, Snider recorded 4.0 innings without allowing a run on three hits and tied his career-high five strikeouts against the Aces. Snider has made three starts this season and has a 6.57 ERA over 12.1 innings pitched.

Dudes a Stud
LHP Jackson Kranawetter, who led the OVC in saves a season ago, was dominant once again Tuesday night as he pitched the final 2.0 innings against MSU. For the 21st time in his career, Kranawetter did not surrender a walk and did not allow a run for the 18th time in his career. He last pitched against Milwaukee picking up his second save of the season without allowing a run or surrendering a walk.

Heatin' Up
Starting pitcher John-Paul Sauer is starting to round into form as a staple of the weekend rotation for the Redhawks after a great start against Milwaukee. Sauer, from Jackson, Mo., pitched 3.2 innings against Milwaukee where he allowed just one run on five hits. He punched out a career-high five opposing hitters for the second time in four starts. Sauer transferred in from Tulane University this season and has pitched 15.1 innings and has a 7.63 ERA lowering it from 9.26 entering his most recent start. He's struck out 15 opposing hitters and allowed just seven walks so far.

Nuke
Reliever LHP Matt Wnukowski had a career-day last Tuesday against Evansville. Wnukowski, who missed the 2025 season with a redshirt, pitched a career-high 2.0 innings of scoreless baseball against the Aces. He surrendered just one hit and punched out a career-best three opposing hitters. He has pitched 3.1 innings this season and has allowed just zero runs two times this season in four appearances.

Swiss Army Mert
RHP Nathan Mertens had an unusual role on Saturday afternoon as he came in to relieve John-Paul Sauer in the third inning. Mertens pitched the next 4.0 innings for the Redhawks and was dominant as a middle reliever. He allowed no runs on just four hits and punched out four Panthers en route to his second win of the season. He allowed no walks for the 10thtime in his SEMO career and has allowed just one walk all season in five appearances. He has recorded 16 strikeouts in 16.0 innings pitched, including a season-high seven against Miami (OH) on March 1.

Offensive Prowess
Leadoff hitter Caleb Klein was on fire against Missouri State on Tuesday afternoon. The center fielder recorded his third, three-hit game this season as he was one-of-two Redhawks with three hits Tuesday. Klein finished 3-6 at the plate with three RBIs and two runs scored. On the season, he is hitting .365 with 27 hits, 20 RBIs, two doubles, and four home runs.

Cup of Joe
DH Joe Hall brought his power to the ballpark on Tuesday afternoon. Hall finished 2-4 at the plate for the Redhawks as both of his hits left the yard to opposite parts of the park. Hall went to right field in the second inning for a two-run shot before coming back in the third inning for a three-run blast to left field. He finished the day with a career-high five Rbis against MSU. Hall is the first Redhawk this season to have multiple home runs in a game, and he is now second on the team in home runs with four.
