Redhawk Tennis Travels South For Doubleheader

The Southeast Missouri tennis team heads south for a battle with Ole Miss Sunday. The two squads will face off in a doubleheader with the first match slated for a noon start. 
 
Series History
 
It will be the first time the Redhawks compete against Ole Miss. 
 
 
Last Time Out
 
SEMO split decisions losing 6-1 against Missouri before bouncing back with a 7-0 win against Missouri-St. Louis. 
 
Against the Tigers, Yontha Tadoum and Sofia Zemtsova took the win at No. 3 doubles and at No. 2 doubles Mia Mayerova and Maja Bajorek held match point, before falling in a tiebreak. Mayerova was the lone winner in singles taking a 6-2, 6—2 win at No. 6 to secure the lone point for the Redhawks. 
 
In the second match of the weekend, despite a tough fight from Missouri-St. Louis, the Redhawks won all of the matches. Bajorek and Mayerova won 6-4 at No. 1 doubles, Juliette Demunck and Kristina Kozakova won 6-1 at No. 2 and Tadoum and Zemtsova moved their winning streak to three matches as they also won 6-1 at No. 3
 
In the singles matches Bajorek (No. 1), Demunck (No. 2) Kozakova (No. 5) and Mayerova (No. 6) all won in straight sets. Zemtsova battled for a 6-1, 4-6, 6-3 win at No. 3 and Tadoum faught for a 3-6, 6-4, 7-5 win at No. 4 to complete the sweep. 
 
Winning Streaks
 
Mia Mayerova is riding a four match singles winning streak into this weekend. Holding down the No. 6 spot in the lineup she has on three consectitive matches in straight sets. The lone three set match she won the first and third sets 6-0 against Abbie Peterson from Northern Iowa. She has also added a win over Wyoming's Ruby Young in straight sets to hold a 5-2 overall record. 
 
In doubles Yontha Tadoum and Sofia Zemtsova carry a three-match win streak into the upcoming match. Tadoum also teamed up with Claudia Casas for a 6-4 win against a duo from Northern Iowa to extend her streak to 4 in doubles matches. 
 
Looking Ahead
 
SEMO tennis will head down to Nashville, Tennessee February 12th and 13th to battle with Tennessee Southern and Belmont.
