NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Southeast Missouri Tennis team lost just four total games in singles matches as it swept Tennessee Southern 7-0 Thursday afternoon.
SEMO kicked things off by sweeping the doubles matches to secure the first point. At No. 1 doubles,
Kristina Kozakova and
Juliette Demunck overpowered Natalia Vergara and Maggie Barnett with a 6-2 win.
Maja Bajorek and Mia Mayerova sealed the deal at No. 2 doubles with a flawless 6-0 victory over Sofi Rueda and Maya Balle.
Yontha Tadoum and
Sofia Zemtsova wrapped up the doubles play with another 6-0 triumph against Sheyla Zombrano and Anna Wernerowicz at No. 3.
The momentum carried into the singles matches, where the Redhawks continued to excel. Bajorek led the charge at No. 1 singles, defeating Zombrano with a decisive 6-1, 6-1 score. Demunck extended SEMO's lead at No. 2 singles, overpowering Rueda 6-1, 6-0. Zemtsova added another point at No. 3 singles with her 6-1, 6-0 victory over Vergara.
Tadoum kept the streak alive at No. 4 singles, shutting out Barnett 6-0, 6-0. Kozakova followed suit at No. 5 singles, delivering a 6-0, 6-0 win over Wernerowicz.
Claudia Casas closed the match with a 6-0, 6-0 victory over Bailey Cantrell at No. 6 singles, completing the sweep.
Next up, Southeast Missouri will face Belmont on Friday, Feb. 13 at 5:30 p.m. in Nashville, Tennessee.
