The Redhawks are looking for their first win against the tigers as they are 0-12 in prior matchups. The teams will be playing in back-to-back seasons and have played five times since 2021. Â

SEMO earned its first two wins of the season when it travelled to Iowa for a battle with Northern Iowa and Drake. Against Northern Iowa, the Redhawks won 5-2. SEMO snagged the dubles point sweeping the matches. Mia Mayerova and
Maja Bajorek won 6-4 at No. 1,
Juliette Demunck and
Kristina Kozakova won 6-3 at No. 2 and
Claudia Casas and
Yontha Tadoum won 6-4 at No. 3. In the singles matches Bajorek, Demunck and Kozakova all won in straight sets and only losing a combined 11 games. Mayerova also won her match at No. 6 in three sets, winning the first and the third sets 6-0.Â

Sunday, the Redhawks moved to Des Moines to battle with drake and came away with a 4-3 win that came down to the last match. In the doubles matches, SEMO dropped the No. 1 spot, the team battled back to win 6-4 at No. 2 and No. 3. The duo of Bajorek and Mayerova won at No. 2 and Kozakova and
Sofia Zemtsova won at No. 3. In the singles matches Drake stormed back and won three matches, but SEMO held off the comeback with Demunck winning 6-3, 2-6, 6-3 at No. 3 and Mayerova taking care of business at No. 6 winning 6-2, 6-2, which set up the match to come down to Kozakova at No. 5 singles. After dropping the first set 3-6, Kozakova came back to win the match 6-3, 7-5.Â

OVC Players of the Week

SEMO had its first award of the season with
Maja Bajorek and Mia Mayerova being named the doubles Team of the Week. They were cited after a 2-0 week where they won at No. 1 and No. 2 doubles. It is the second time they have won the award as a duo, which was last season.Â
