Box Score TULSA, Okla. – The Southeast Missouri tennis team started its season with a defeat to host Tulsa to start the Hurricane Invite.
The Redhawks battled early in doubles play, splitting results across the three courts. The duo of
Juliette Demunck and
Kristina Kozakova earned SEMO's lone doubles victory, defeating Maria Santos and Carolina Alonso 6-3 at the No. 2 position. Tulsa secured the doubles point with wins at the top and bottom spots, including a 6-1 decision at No. 1 and a narrow 6-4 result at No. 3.
Tulsa carried the momentum into singles action, picking up straight-set victories on all six courts.
Sofia Zemtsova competed at the No. 1 singles spot for SEMO, while
Maja Bajorek pushed her match at No. 2 to a first-set tiebreak before falling in two sets. Several other Redhawks fought through competitive contests, including Mia Mayerova at No. 6, who dropped a closely contested 6-4, 6-3 match.
In singles play against Wyoming, Southeast Missouri faced a challenging lineup but picked up a pair of notable results late in the order.
Kristina Kozakova battled in a three-set match at No. 5, forcing a deciding super tiebreak before falling 2-6, 6-1, 10-3, while Mia Mayerova earned a convincing straight-set win at No. 6 with a 6-1, 6-2 victory. Earlier in the lineup,

Juliette Demunck each competed in straight-set matches at the top four singles positions
The Redhawks will finish the match and the doubles portion Sunday morning before taking on Louisiana Tech.
