CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. — The Southeast Missouri tennis team returns for the fall tournament season hosting the Inaugurall Redhawk Fall Tournament Friday and Saturday at the Redhawks Tennis Complex.
Redhawk Fall Invitational
There will be four teams competing at the John C. Bierk Redhawks Tennis Complex. Western Illinois and Maryville will compete both days and Missouri-St. Louis will compete on Saturday. On Friday the doubles matches will start at 10:30 a.m. with the second matches at 11:30 a.m. The singled portion of the invitational will begin at 2 p.m. with the second wave playing at 3:30 p.m.
On Saturday there will be one doubles portion starting at 10 a.m. The singles matches on day two starts with Maryville vs Missouri-St. Louis vs Maryville at 11 a.m., SEMO and Western Illinois will match up at 12:30, Western Illinois and Maryville will battle at 2 p.m. To wrap up the weekend SEMO will take on Missouri-St. Louis at 3:30 p.m.
Meet the Squad
The Redhawks return six of the seven rostered athletes from the spring team that won the OVC regular season title but fell in the conference championship.
Returning to the team is
Maja Bajorek,
Claudia Casas,
Juliette Demunck,
Kristina Kozakova, Mia Mayerová and
Yontha Tadoum.
The newcomers include transfer
Sofia Zemtsova and freshman
Saskia Soome from Finland. Zemtsova earned Gulf South Conference freshman of the Year in 2024 when she was at Christian Brothers University. She was also first team All-GSC.
Coach Brooks
Head Coach Steve Brooks, who in his first season at the helm won the OVC regular season championship, returns for his second season. Brooks was also the OVC Coach of the Year after the Redhawks won the title for the third time in the program's history.
Fall Schedule
After the Redhawk Fall Invitational the team will travel to Evansville, Indiana for the OVC Fall tournament September 26-28. After that they will participate int the Missouri State Fall Invitational in Springfield on October 3-4. The team will wrap up the fall season with the ITA Reginal tournament in Knoxville, Tennessee.
