Soccer Battles Belmont Sunday Night, Falls 1-0

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Southeast Missouri Soccer (0-2-0) dropped Sunday evening's contest to Belmont (1-1-0) by a final score of 1-0 from E.S. Rose Park.

The Redhawks best chance of the match came early in the second half from freshman Zerina Markovic. SEMO built the play from the middle of the pitch in the 56th minute, finding Markovic who made a beautiful inside cut and fired one of SEMO's two shots-on-goal in the second half.

SEMO was outshot by an 18-4 advantage, but goalkeeper Madison Geisler had a stellar night in net, making eight saves against nine shots-on-goal from the Bruins in the contest.

The lone goal of the match was scored in the 49th minute by Belmont's Kaitlyn Elliot who scored with a header to take a 1-0 lead.

Justi Nelson and Cayla Koerner each registered a shot-on-target, but Belmont held on for the 1-0 victory on Sunday evening.
