Soccer Falls to SIUE

EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. — Southeast Missouri State (2-13-1, 2-4-1 OVC) fell to SIUE (3-10-3, 2-3-2) 1-0 on Thursday night at Korte Stadium, despite a strong performance by Madison Geisler, who recorded 11 saves.
First Half
- SIUE Ava Lewis initiated early pressure with a shot saved by Southeast Missouri State's goalkeeper Madison Geisler in the 4th minute.
- Geisler made multiple crucial saves, including a bottom-right attempt by Alayna Hauser in the 15th minute.
- SEMO's Cayla Koerner fired a shot in the 22nd minute, but it was off target.
- Geisler continued to be a defensive stalwart, denying the Cougars' Claire Nieroda and Anna Zichella with key saves late in the half.
Second Half
- The second half began with Southeast Missouri State's Koerner attempting a shot in the 46th minute.
- The Cougars' DeFini's shot in the 58th minute was saved by Geisler.
- Nieroda scored the decisive goal in the 76th minute, assisted by DeFini.
- Southeast Missouri State's Hogenmiller had a shot saved by SIUE's Bozeman in the 80th minute.
The next challenge for Southeast Missouri State comes on Sunday, Oct. 19, when they host Tennessee Tech at Houck Field in Cape Girardeau, Mo. The match is set to begin at 1 p.m.
