CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. – Southeast Missouri Baseball (27-20, 13-7 OVC) dropped game two of the series with Tennessee Tech (31-17, 13-7 OVC) by a final score of 7-1 on Saturday afternoon at Capaha Field.
Prior to Saturday's contest, SEMO Baseball retired the number 29 jersey of former Redhawk Head Coach Mark Hogan. The all-time winningest head coach in program history, Hogan was honored with his number 29 jersey unveiled on the Redhawks' indoor hitting facility.
When the game started, the Redhawks fell behind 2-0 in the third inning with a two-run home run from Tennessee Tech.
Left fielder
Ty Stauss recorded his 27
th RBI of the season in the bottom of the fourth inning with an RBI triple that scored
Bryce Cannon all the way from first base to make it 2-1 TTU.
That was all the Redhawks could muster as Tech scored six more runs in the contest and outhit the Redhawks by a 13-7 advantage.
RHP
Sam Heyman (5-5) took the loss in the contest. Heyman pitched 5.2 innings allowing five runs on six hits. He struck out five Golden Eagles while surrendering just two walks.
RHP
Kayden Kohlberg had a strong showing out of the bullpen, pitching the final 2.1 innings without allowing a run. He surrendered two hits, but struck out two Golden Eagles over nine batters faced.
Brooks Kettering,
Ty Stauss, and
Liam Forsyth all recorded a pair of hits in the contest as the only Redhawks with multi-hit days.
