EVANSVILLE, Ind. – Southeast Missouri Baseball (27-24, 13-11 OVC) dropped the series finale to Southern Indiana (25-26, 13-11 OVC) by a final score of 5-2 on Sunday afternoon at USI Baseball Field.
Three Redhawks finished with multi-hit days in
Gunnar Doyle (2-5),
Ty Stauss (2-4), and
Andrew Ramirez (2-3) making up six-of-eight team hits. SEMO was outhit by a 10-8 mark.
RHP
Sam Heyman (5-5) took the loss on Sunday pitching 3.1 innings and striking out one Screaming Eagle. He allowed four runs on seven hits. The backend of the bullpen held USI in check led by
Caden Kickhaefer. Kickhaefer pitched 3.1 innings with just three hits and one unearned run.
SEMO scored the game's first run of the day with a perfectly executed squeeze play by catcher
Shea McGahan. With Redhawks on the corners, McGahan laid down the bunt to score
Ty Stauss from third base.
An infield single from designated hitter
Gunnar Doyle was the second and final run of the game for the Redhawks in the top of the fifth inning. Trailing 4-1, Doyle singled to third base to score
Carson Schrack to make it 4-2 USI.
USI would score a run in the third, three in the fourth, and another in the fifth to take the series finale by a final score of 5-2.

SEMO Baseball will wrap-up the regular season beginning next Thursday, May 15, hosting Little Rock for the final OVC weekend of the season. First pitch is slated for 6 p.m. at Capaha Field.
