Redhawks Host Tennessee Tech this Weekend in Pivotal OVC Series
Southeast Missouri Baseball (27-18, 13-5 OVC) enters the final month of the regular season atop the Ohio Valley Conference and will host Tennessee Tech (29-17, 11-7 OVC) Friday-Sunday, May 2-4, in Cape Girardeau to continue league play. First pitch is slated for 6 p.m. on Friday, 2 p.m. on Saturday, and 1 p.m. on Sunday from Capaha Field. 
 
Big Weekend at the Ballpark
This weekend features a lot of fun and entertainment for fans coming to Capaha Park. Friday is another 'Fill the Hill' Friday sponsored by Kohlfeld Distributing as fans 21+ will receive free adult beverages during Friday's game. Saturday, the Redhawks will wear special throwback 'Spear Logo' jerseys to honor the retirement of former Redhawk head coach, Mark Hogan. Fans can bid and buy their favorite SEMO Redhawks' throwback jersey by clicking here. All proceeds from the auction will go to the SEMO Baseball program. 
 
Sunday will be "Star Wars" Day at the ballpark. The first 250 fans will get a special Star Wars themed t-shirt courtesy of Burritoville. There will be live action Star Wars characters for fans to interact with so May the Fourth be with you, and we will see you at the ballpark. 
 
Sawyers vs. TTU
The Redhawks and Golden Eagles will meet for the 25th, 26th, & 27th time under ninth year head coach Andy Sawyers. Overall, the Redhawks hold an 11-13 record against TTU. A season ago, the Redhawks won the opening game of the series in Cookeville, 4-1, before falling in the final two games of the series.
 
Midweek Recap
The Redhawks scored 11 runs on eight hits en route to beating Murray State on Tuesday night by a final score of 11-3 at Capaha Field. RHP Mason Pennington tossed 5.2 innings and struck out a career-high five hitters over 82 pitches. The Redhawks scored seven runs in the bottom of the first inning, highlighted by a three-run home run by third baseman Andrew Ramirez. The blast marked the first of his Redhawk career and gave SEMO a 7-0 advantage after the first frame. The bullpen shut down the high-powered Racers for the rest of the night as the Redhawks picked up win number 27 on the season. 
 
So Long, April
The Redhawks finished the month of April with a 10-7 mark including a 9-3 record in OVC play. The Redhawks won each of their OVC series in April including at SIUE, vs. Eastern Illinois, vs. Lindenwood, and at Morehead State to improve to 13-5 in league play. The Redhawks currently sit atop of the standings, tied for first with SIUE heading into the month of May. 
 
Ramirez Leaves the Yard
Infielder Andrew Ramirez, who has started the last four games at third base, hit his first career home run in a Redhawk uniform on Tuesday night. Ramirez hit a towering, three-run home run to left field in the bottom of the first inning against Murray State. Ramirez is hitting .259 with a .365 slugging-percentage and an on-base percentage of .394. He tied a career-high with three RBIs with one swing. 
 
Penny
RHP Mason Pennington made his fifth start of the season on Tuesday night, making a quality start to pick up his first win of the season. Pennington (1-1) pitched 5.2 innings where he allowed just three runs on five hits. The runs came with only one swing, but Pennington kept the Racers off the board for the rest of his outing, striking out a career-high five opposing hitters. He has 21 strikeouts this season in 31.2 innings pitched and has surrendered just 13 walks. 
 
Not Odd, but Strange
RHP Brian Strange pitched 2.0 innings on Tuesday night of scoreless baseball.  The righty from Westfield, Massachusetts did not allow a run for the seventh time this season and the eighth time for his career. The appearance marked the ninth out of the bullpen this season for Strange. He has pitched 31.0 innings and has struck out 34 opposing hitters. 
 
Make You Earn It
The Redhawks pitching staff has the best earned run average in the Ohio Valley Conference heading into the final month of the season. The Redhawks have a 4.63 ERA and rank 46th in all of Division I baseball. LHP Jackson Kranawetter has the lowest ERA on the team with an impressive 2.23 while RHP Nathan Mertens follows close behind with a 2.51 ERA. 
 
The Kick
RHP Caden Kickhaefer pitched the final 1.0 innings on Tuesday night and struck out all three Racers he faced to seal the 11-3 victory for the Redhawks. Kickhaefer is the team-leader in opposing batting average as opponents are hitting just .190 against the righty. In 23.1 innings, Kickhaefer has allowed just 12 runs, 14 walks, and has struck out 34 hitters. He has an overall ERA of 4.63. In three-straight appearances, Kickhaefer has not allowed a run or a hit for the seventh and fourth time, respectively, this season. 
 
Oz, the Reliever
Ethan Osborne came in to the contest on Tuesday night in the fifth inning to relieve Pennington. He faced a pair of hitters and did not allow a hit for the eighth time this season and the 21st time in his career. His appearance marked his 15th of the season which ranks him third on the pitching staff in appearances. He did not allow a run for the 11th time this season and the 34th time in his career and did not surrender a walk for the 13th time in 2025 and an impressive 39th time in his career. 
 
Drive 'Em In
Right fielder Cole Warehime tallied his 44th RBI on Tuesday night in his 11th multi-RBI game of the season. Warehime leads the Redhawks in RBIs with nine more than the next closest teammate (Michael Mugan, 35). He ranks fourth in the Ohio Valley Conference with 44 RBIs and averages 1.05 RBIs-per-game. 
 
How About Forsyth
Catcher Liam Forstyh started his 15th game behind the plate on Tuesday night and crushed his third home run of the season in the bottom of the eighth inning. On the season, Forsyth has nine hits including three home runs and a team-leading three triples. He has driven in nine RBIs in 47 at-bats. 
 
We Ain't Walkin Ya
The Redhawks have been amongst the nation's best at not allowing walks to their opponents. Through 45 games, the Redhawks allow just 3.18 walks per nine innings which ranks them seventh in the country and first in the Ohio Valley Conference. LHP Ethan Osborne leads the Redhawks with a team-low two walks allowed this season.
