Baseball Rattles Evansville 17-6 in Seven Innings Tuesday

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. – Southeast Missouri Baseball (9-7) rattled the bats en route to a 17-6 victory over Evansville (5-10) on Tuesday afternoon in seven innings. Four runs in the sixth inning allowed the Redhawks to pick up their first 'run rule' victory of the season.

The Redhawks pounded out 14 hits led by Michael Mugan who finished 3-3 at the dish. Bryce Cannon and Cole Warehime produced nine RBIs between the duo, four and five respectively, driving in nine of SEMO's 17 runs.

Three Redhawks recorded their first home runs of the season in Caleb Corbin, Mikey Rocha, and Liam Forsyth all left the yard in Tuesday's contest. For Rocha and Forsyth, the home runs marked the first for their career at Southeast Missouri.

After a leadoff inside the park home run by Evansville's Ty Rumsey, the Redhawks responded with five runs in the home first. A one-out walk to Ty Stauss followed by a Mugan infield single brought in Bryce Cannon. Cannon roped a double the opposite way down the left field line to score Stauss.

Warehime hit next and delivered a two-RBI single to left field to score both Mugan and Cannon to give SEMO a 3-1 lead. Corbin then blasted his home run going the opposite way to complete the five-run inning.

Two more runs in the second, four in the fourth, two in the fifth, and four in the sixth powered the Redhawks past the Purple Aces for their first midweek victory of 2025.

RHP Caden Kickhaefer made his first career start on the mound on Tuesday. Kickhaefer pitched 3.2 innings, allowing three runs on four hits. He struck out a career-high six hitters over 65 pitches.

Eddie White (1-0) came on in relief after both LHPs Cade Perkins and Ethan Osborne made appearances. White closed out the final 2.1 innings en route to his victory of the season. He allowed just one run on two hits and struck out three Aces.
