Soccer Travels to Sunshine State to Take on FIU and FAU This Weekend
Southeast Missouri women's soccer (0-4-0) is on the road again as they travel to Florida for a pair of matches first with Florida International (4-3-0) on Thursday and then Florida Atlantic (0-4-2) on Sunday. The Redhawks first kick against FIU is scheduled for 6:00 p.m., CT and 5:00 p.m., CT against FAU.  Â

Last Time Out
SEMO fell to Missouri 5-0 last Sunday in their fourth game of the season.Â

Goalkeeper
Sophia Elfrink made five saves in the match, playing the full 90-minutes for just the first time this season. She faced 25 Missouri shots, with nine on target.Â

The Tigers got on the board first in the 11
th minute as Kylee Simmons used her head off a crossing ball by Leah Seim. Simmons headed the ball into the center of the goal to give the home team a 1-0 advantage.

A penalty kick due to a hand ball in the box committed by the Redhawks' defense allowed Brianna Buets to score the fourth goal of the half and give Missouri a 4-0 lead at halftime.Â

The Tigers would score a final goal to win the match 5-0 in the second half.Â

Series History
This will be the first ever meeting between the Redhawks and Florida International.

Against FAU, the series is currently tied 1-1 with the last match taking place in 2016 where the Redhawks came away with a 1-0 victory over the Owls in Cape Girardeau.Â

The first time SEMO faced Florida Atlantic, the owls managed to escape with the win. FAU beat the Redhawks 2-0 in September of 2015 at a neutral site in West Palm Beach, Fla.

Scouting Florida International
FIU is currently coming off their biggest win of the season, scoring six goals against Southeastern Louisiana and winning 6-1. The Panthers' other three wins this season have come by the likes of FGCU (2-1), Florida Atlantic (2-0), and Jacksonville (3-0).

Against Southeastern Louisiana, FIU recorded 26 shots with 16 of them being on target.Â

Of the six goals scored in the matchup, four of them came from the bench. Arianna Sparrow scored two goals, on four shots while only playing 27 minutes during the game.Â

Nikole Solis, the Panthers senior forward, scored the other two bench goals on three shot attempts. Solis now leads the team with five goals scored this season. She has a total of 11 shots with seven of them on goal this year.Â

FIU's starting goalie Valery Restrepo had two saves against Southeastern Louisiana. So far this season, Restrepo has 14 saves on 51 shots faced.Â

The Owls are coming off a 0-2 loss to Tennessee. The Owls have yet to win a game this season but have played four Power Four opponents (Tennessee, Alabama, Miami, and UCF).

Forwards Drew Dempsey and Michelle Horan were the two Owls to have shots on goal. Horan leads the team in shots with seven, tied with Dempsey for two shots on goal, and has the only assist on the team.

Ashley Small, Florida Atlantic's goalie had three saves against Tennessee but allowed two goals. Small now has 16 saves on the year while facing 57 shots and has allowed 16 goals.

The Redhawks currently own a 1-3-0 record against in the Sunshine State in program history. The matches this week will mark just the fourth time SEMO soccer has been in Florida. Overall, the Redhawks are 1-1 against Florida Atlantic, 0-1 against South Florida, and 0-1 against Stetson.
