Track & Field Set to Host 2024 Joey Haines Invite Thursday-Saturday

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. - Southeast Missouri track & field is at home this weekend for the Joey Haines Invitational. The meet will be held at the Abe Stuber Track Complex Thursday March 28 through Saturday March 30.
On Thursday the heptathlon and decathlon will take place beginning at 1:00 p.m. On Friday the heptathlon and decathlon will finish their last events then the hammer throw will begin at 3:30 p.m.
Saturday's field events are slated for 11:00 a.m with the shot put and the running events are scheduled to start at noon 3000m Steeplechase.
The Southeast Senior recognition is scheduled to begin at 3:40 p.m on Saturday.
In addition to the Joey Haines Invite, Hannah Eastman, Lexie Dockstader, Sarah Russom, Nick Cimmarusti, and Garrett Dumke will run the 10k at the WashU Distance Carnival. Terrico Garrett and Markeith Crawford will compete in the elite 800-meter.
The women's 10k is scheduled for 9:20 p.m, March 28 and will be followed by the men's 10k.
The men's 800 is slotted for 7:45 p.m, March 29.

At the Ole Miss Open the Redhawks posted 12 new personal bests and 54 top ten performances.
The Sophomore from Rudbecksskolan, Sweden Clara Billing vaults over a height of 13' 3.5" for a season best while placing first.
Nick Cimmarusti took home the trophy in the men's 3000-meter. The junior from St. Charles Mo. recorded a time of 8:36.98.
Paden Lewis achieved a throw of 193' 1" (9th) and Quinton Maxwell registered a throw of 152' 04" for new personal bests in the hammer throw.
In the men's javelin throw Isaac Readnour posted a new PR and distance of 157' 02".
Serena Williams long jumps for a season best mark of 18' 7.75" for fifth.
Jaden Kight takes home the bronze medal after launching the javelin 140' 11".
In the 3000m Steeplechase Makenzie Pugh notched the silver medal crossing the line at 12:13.11.
Paden Lewis takes the bronze in the shot put and fifth in the discus throwing for distances of 57' 3.75" and 172' 02" for two new personal bests.
Anna Thomason grabs the silver medal with a time of 13.92 in the 100m hurdles.
Burdine and Miles crossed the finish line at 56.40 (3rd) and 56.62 (5th).
With a time of 2:16.20 Erika Mellor took third in the women's 800-meter.
Terrico Garrett is wearing the silver medal after the men's 800m finished (1:50.33).

For each individual event the top 48 performances will be accepted into the NCAA regional. For each relay event, the top 24 relay teams will be accepted into the competition. The top 24 performances in the combined events (Heptathlon and Decathlon) are accepted directly into the Championships.
The sport is broken up into nine regions, SEMO is in the Midwest Region which includes all the Division One schools from Missouri, Oklahoma, Kansas, Nebraska, South and North Dakota, Iowa, Minnesota, and Illinois.
Southeast Missouri has eight athletes ranked in the top 50 of the country, 27 top ten performances in the Midwest Region, and 20 athletes ranked first in the Ohio valley Conference.
Parker Feuerborn has the fourth best mark in the nation, (2nd regionally, 1st conference) in the hammer throw. The graduate student achieved a distance of 235' 1" at the Richard Martin Invite March 15th, 2024.
Terrico Garrett is ranked 23rd in the NCAA, second in the region, and first in the OVC in the 800-meter with a time of 1:50.33, achieving this time at the Ole Miss Classic.
Breanna Dixon jumped over a height of 5' 7" at the Ole Miss Classic to be ranked 48th in the nation, fifth in the region, and first in the OVC.
Pole vaulters Tanner Knootz and Sullivan Gleason are ranked 46th (9th regionally, 1st OVC) in the NCAA after vaulting over a height of 16' 5.25" at the Ole Miss Classic March 22, 2024.
Clara Billing cleared a height of 13' 3.5 on March 22, at the Ole miss classic to be ranked 28th in the NCAA, sixth in the region, and first in the Ohio Valley in the women's pole vault.

In the Midwest region Breanna Miles ranks ninth (1st OVC) (11.75) in the 100-meter and eighth (1st OVC) in the 200 (23.91).
Anna Thomason has the seventh best 100-meter hurdle time (1st OVC) (13.92) in the Midwest Region.
In the region Clayton Eftink and Jacob Blassingame rank first (1st OVC) (9:48.25) and second (10:15.34) on the men's side and Makenzie Pugh ranks third (1st OVC) (12:13.11) on the women's side in the Steeplechase.
SEMO 4x100 squad of Williams, Burdine, Dwaah, Miles ranks sixth in the region (47.30).
In the 4x400 the men's squad of Moore, Crawford, Parham, Garrett ranks has a time of 3:15.75 and the women's team of Miles, Dwaah, Hardin, Burdine have a finishing time of 3:51.34 both rank eighth in the region and first in the conference.
In the high jump Mason Clough cleared a height of 6' 7.5" (6th) on the men's side and Molly Grohmann achieved a mark of 5' 5" (8th) on the women's side to be ranked in the region.

In the regional triple jump rankings Luke Busateri and Aarion jackson rank third (46' 6.75") and sixth (44' 6.25") on the men's side and Todjai Ross ranks 10th (38' 1.25") on the women's side.
In the hammer throw Marshall Swadley has a mark of 200' 0", ranking 10th in the region.
Shea DeGraaf and Justin Breault have the sixth (1st OVC) (204' 4") and seventh (196' 1") best javelin throws in the Midwest Region.
