SEMO Wraps up Home Games this Weekend
Southeast Missouri State (0-9-3, 0-3-3 OVC) will play their final home games of the 2024 season against SIUE (2-6-5, 1-2-3 OVC) on Thursday, Oct. 17 and Morehead State (6-6-3, 3-3-0 OVC) on Sunday, Oct. 20.

Senior Day Sunday
Sunday's contest will be the final regular season match at Houck Field for five Redhawk seniors. Goalkeeper Sophia Elfrink, defenders Grace Crowden and Alayna Jakul, midfielder Elizabeth Rater and Forward Katelyn Miller will be honored prior to the start of the match. 

Last Time Out
The Redhawks played another scoreless defensive game with Sophia Elfrink registering six saves. During the contest Little Rock out shot SEMO 11 to seven. The Redhawks put five shots on target while the Trojans notched six on target shots.

Six different Redhawks recorded a shot. Justi Nelson led the Redhawks with two shots with one being on goal.

At the half both the Redhawks and the Trojans had recorded five shots. Four of SEMO's shots were on target compared to Little Rock's two. Four Redhawks posted a shot on the stat sheet, Zoe Houston, Alli Saviano, Nelson, and Cayla Koerner. Elfrink registered two saves at halftime.

Elfrink played all 90 minutes in the net and defenders, Alayna Jakul, Kristen Anderson, and Sophie Shrum also played the full game. Shrum also recorded her first shot of the season from the back line.

Series History
SEMO leads the all time series 10-8-3 against SIUE, with their last win coming from the OVC tournament last season. The Redhawks beat SIUE 5-4 on Pks in overtime to advance to the semifinals.

At home against the Cougars the Redhawks own a 6-3-2 record with 19 goals score compared to ten SIUE goals.

Against Morehead State SEMO has a 15-8-7 advantage. Their last meeting came in the OVC semifinal match last year with the Eagles bringing home a 1-0 victory.

SEMO owns a 7-3-3 home record against the Eagles with 35 total goals scored between the programs but 23 have come from the Redhawks.

Scouting SIUE
The Cougars enter the game ranked seventh in the OVC with a 1-2-3 conference record. Most recently they played to a 1-1 draw against Tennessee Tech.

During the game SIUE outshot Tennessee Tech 13-10 and put four shots on goal, with Freshman Emma Czech's scoring her first career goal from an assist by Sidney Christopher.

Goalkeeper Abby Haskell played the full 90 in goal for the Cougars and picked up two saves.

Savannah DeFini leads the team and ranks sixth in the OVC in goals with five while ranking first on the Cougars and ninth in the conference in assists with three. The Sophomore also ranks third in the OVC in total points with 13 on a shooting clip of .250 and SOG clip of .500.

Matea Diekema and Christopher have posted 22 shots a piece for a team lead. Diekema also leads the team in shots on goal with 13 (9th OVC).

Haskell has started 11 games in the net for SIUE notching 28 total saves (.824) while giving up six goals. The Sophomore ranks second and third in the conference in goals against average and saves.

In the Ohio Valley the Cougars rank fifth in goals (14) and assists (14) and fourth in shots (14).

Derek Burton is in 17th season as head coach of the SIUE women's soccer program, with an overall record of 127-124-47 as the Cougars' head coach.

Scouting Morehead State
The Eagles come to Houck Field coming off of their third conference loss of the season. Morehead state lost 1-0 against Southern Indiana last Sunday. 

Against Southern Indiana, recorded ten shots with two of them being on goal. The two shots on goal came from their bench players, sophomore Natasha Tanner and Freshman Carlie Thurman. 

Thurman now has 16 shots on the season with nine SOGs (0.563 sog%) and three goals.

Defender Gracen Houck and midfielder Kenndey Baquero recorded the most shots during the contest with two. Baquero is second on the team in shots with 29 (8th in the OVC) and second on the team is SOGs with 15 (8th in the OVC).

Lilly Bailey, the Eagles goalie, notched five saves against Southern Indiana. Bailey ranks fourth in the conference in goals against average with 1.150, fourth in save percentage with .796, and sixth in saves per game with 3.90. 

Morehead State's leader in shot and SOGs is sophomore Hedda Ornberg. Ornberg has 31 shots (5th in the OVC) and 22 shots on goal (3rd in the OVC).

As a team Morehead State has 193 shots compared to their opponents 186, 12.9 shots per game, 82 shots on goal, 17 goals, and 17 assist on the season.

Morehead State is currently sitting in fourth place in the conference standings at 3-3 with nine total conference points.

Paul Cox is currently in his first season as the Eagles head coach. Cox was previous at Murray State for the past four years where he guided the racers to a 19-11-8 record in conference play. 

Players of the Week
Sophie Shrum, a sophomore defender from Marion, Ill., tabbed OVC Defender of the Week for the first time in her career. Shrum has played in ten games and started in four along the SEMO's back line. 

During the game Shrum recorded her first shot of her career and held #1 Little Rock's to zero goals. Shrum also blocked a couple shots and helped the Redhawks record back-to-back shutouts.

Sophia Elfrink, a junior goalkeeper from Columbia, Mo., claimed OVC Goalkeeper of the week for the first time this year and fourth time overall. 

During the game Elfrink faced 11 total shots and six shots on goal. Elfrink recorded six saves and her second shutout of the season.

Junior forward Cayla Koerner ranks fifth in the conference in shots with 29 and fifth in the OVC in shots on goal with 20.

Goalkeeper Sophia Elfrink ranks sixth in the Ohio Valley in shutouts with two.

After Morehead State the Redhawks will head to Martin, Tenn. to play UT Martin for their final regular season contest on Sunday, Oct. 27th at 1:00 P.M. CT.
