Track & Field Continues Road Swing At Georgia Tech Invite Friday & Saturday

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. - Southeast Missouri Track & Field will be on the road again this weekend traveling to Georgia Tech University in Atlanta, Georgia. The Redhawks will be competing in the Georgia Tech Invite Friday, April 21 and Saturday, April 22 at the George C. Griffin Track & Field Facility.
 
Friday's field events are scheduled to begin at 11:30 p.m. with the hammer throw and end with long jump at 4:30 p.m. 
 
The running events on Friday will start at 4:30 p.m. with the 100-meter hurdles and end with the 5000-meter scheduled for 8:00 p.m.
 
Saturday's events will start in the field with the high jump at 11:00 p.m. The running events are scheduled to begin at 12:00 p.m. with the 4x100-meter relay and end with the 4x400-meter relay at 3:15 p.m. 
 
Last Time Out
The Redhawks last competed at the SIUE invite on April 15 where they finished with five first place finishes and 19 top three performances.
 
The women's 4x100-meter relay team of Serena Willimas, Leanza Dwaah, Daja Gordon, and Breanna Miles finished with the gold medal crossing the finish line in 46.04. 
 
Megan Deimeke stood on top of the podium in the women's hammer throw. Deimeke threw for 179' 06" (54.71m).
 
Sophie Dubis earned the gold medal in the women's high jump placing first with a jump of 1.65m.
 
The women's 200-meter saw Leanza Dwaah place first with a dash of 24.51.
 
The women's 4x400-meter relay team recorded a first place finish with a time of 3:47.31.
 
Marshall Swadley and Dylan Clark captured the silver and bronze medal in the shot put. Swadley had a mark of 54' 10"(16.71m) and Clark threw for 52' 6.50" (16.01m).
 
In the men's hammer throw Marshall Swadley placed second with a mark of 206' 11" (63.07m) and Parker Feuerborn placed third throwing the distance of 204' 03" (62.26m). 
 
Layla Fliege placed third in the women's 1500-meter finishing in 4:52.78.
 
Momoh Brema crossed the finish line in 56.10 in the 400-meter hurdles placing third.
 
Mackenzie Pugh finished in second in the women's 3000-meter steeplechase with a time of 12:17.61. 
 
In the men's 3000-meter steeplechase Jacob Blassingame placed third finishing in 10:13.28. 
 
Mason Clogh took the second highest spot on the podium in the high jump. Clough cleared a height of 6' 02" (1.88m).
 
Records Broken
The women's 4x800 meter relay team of Taylor fox, Erika Mellor, Madelyn Gray, and Katie Wegmann broke the Southeast Missouri State record with a time of 9:01.34 on March 21 at the Mississippi State Invite. 
 
The previous record was 9:09.09 held by Laura Byrne, Debbie Kilpatrick, Pam Palmer, and Jennella Torrence in 1985. 
 
Luke Hatfield-Jackson breaks his own Southeast Missouri State record in the high jump with a jump of 2.19-meters on March 21 at the Mississippi State Invite. He previously broke the record back in 2021 with a jump of 2.178-meters. 
 
Breanna Miles, the junior from Memphis, Tenn. broke the school record in the 200-meter when she crossed the line at 23.71 on March 22 at the Mississippi State Invite. 
 
Miles broke the record previously held by Jerika Lewis (23.91) set in 2013. She also broke the indoor 200-meter record twice during the indoor season, making this her third record this year.
 
Graduate student Katie Wegmann broke the Southeast Missouri State school record in the women's 1500-meter on April 7 at the Joe Walker Invite. 
 
The record was previously held by Carli Knott in 2021 with a time of 4:23.89, Wegmann crossed the finish line a few tenths faster at 4:23.36. 
 
Where We Rank
Luke Hatfield-Jackson is ranked eighth in the NCAA and first in the conference for his 7' 2.25" (2.19-m) high jump. He achieved this mark on Mar. 23 at the 2023 Mississippi State Bulldog Relays. He is also ranked fourth in the OVC in the long jump (24' 1.75", 7.36m). 
 
Parker Feuerborn is ranked 24th  in the NCAA and first in the OVC in the hammer throw. He threw for a mark of 220' 3" (67.14m) on April 7th at the 2023 Joe Walker Invite.
 
Marshall Swadley has the second best hammer throw in the OVC (63.57m, 208' 7"). He is also second in shot put in the OVC (16.71m, 54' 10").
 
Issac Redanour is ranked first in the OVC and Jon Bissell is ranked second in the OVC in the Decathlon. Readnour gained 5979 total points and Bissell gained 5861 total points.
 
Chris Johnson is ranked fifth in the OVC for the men's long jump (7.29m, 23' 11").
 
In the women's 100-meters Breanna Miles is ranked first in the conference (11.71) and first in the women's 200-meter (23.71).
 
In the women's 100-meters Leanza Dwaah is ranked third (11.80).
 
 Daja Gordon is ranked fourth in the conference (11.91) in the 100-meter.
 
Laila Hardin is ranked fourth in the OVC for the women's 400-meters (56.40) and first in the 400-meter hurdles (1:00.40).
 
In the men's 800-meter Terrico Garrett is ranked second in the conference(1:50.89).
 
In the 800-meter Madelyn Gray is ranked first (2:12.59) in the conference and third in the 1500 (4:30.28).
 
Taylor Fox has the fourth best time in the conference for the 800-meter (2:13.69) and fourth in the 1500 (4:32.16).
 
In the women's 1500-meter Katie Wegmann is ranked first in the OVC (4:23.36).
 
Hannah Eastman is ranked fifth (17:13.12) in the 5000-meter in the conference.
 
The 4x100 relay team of Luke Collins, Brenden Parham, Brock Wood, and Chris Johnson are ranked fifth in the OVC (42.22).
 
Serena Williams, Daja Gordon, Leanza Dwaah, and Breanna Miles are ranked third in the conference for the 4x100 (46.04).
 
In the men's 4x400 team of Brenden Parham, Mark Crawford, Brock Wood, and Terrico Garrett are ranked third in the OVC (3:18.37). 
 
Breana Miles, Erika Mellor, Leanza Dwaah, and Laila Hardin are ranked first as a team in the 4x400 in the OVC (3:47.31).
 
In the women's high jump Sophie Dubis is ranked first in the conference 5' 5" (1.65m).
 
In the men's pole vault Colin Beers is ranked first in the OVC (15' 5.75", 4.72m) while Tanner Koontz is ranked second (4.68m, 15' 4.25"). Sullivan Gleason and Isaac Readnour are tied for third (14' 1.25", 4.30m).
 
In the women's pole vault Clara Billing is ranked first (3.92m, 12' 10.25"), Nicole Silverlake is ranked fourth (3.50m, 11' 575").
 
Serena Williams is ranked third in the conference in the women's long jump (5.76m, 18' 10.75"), and third in the triple jump (38' 8.75", 11.80m).
 
Dylan Clark is ranked third in the conference for the hammer throw (60.15m, 197' 4") third in the discus (50.72m, 166' 5"), and fourth in the shot put (    16.26m, 53' 4.25").
 
Clay Alewelt is ranked fourth in the OVC for his 193' 8" (59.02m) mark in the hammer throw and first in the discus (53.69m, 176' 2").
