Series History
The all-time series between Southeast Missouri and Southern Indiana is tied, 7-7. SEMO opened Ohio Valley Conference play against Southern Indiana back on Dec. 29 in Evansville. The Screaming Eagles won that matchup by a score of 86-81. USI is in its first year as a member of the OVC transitioning to Division I from the Division II level.

Southeast Missouri will honor seniors Nate Johnson, Israel Barnes and Chris Harris. Johnson, Barnes and Harris will be recognized prior to tip-off.

The Redhawks have clinched a spot in this year's Ohio Valley Conference Tournament. Southeast Missouri enters Saturday's contest in a three-way tie for second in the standings with UT Martin and Tennessee Tech. Those three teams have 9-6 records. Each of SEMO's final three opponents are below the Redhawks in the standings (Southern Indiana, Lindenwood, SIU Edwardsville).
Harris Approaching 1,000 Points
Chris Harris, Southeast Missouri's second-leading scorer with 13.5 points per game this season, is 11 away from reaching 1,000 in his career. Harris presently has 989 points and an 11.7 ppg average as a Redhawk. If he accomplishes the feat, Harris will become the 25th member of SEMO's 1,000-point club.
OVC Leading Scorer
Southeast Missouri has the top scorer in the Ohio Valley Conference. Phillip Russell is first in the league in scoring with 18.7 points per game. Russell went over 500 points (505) this season. He scored double figures in 26 of his 27 starts. Along the way, Russell had 20 or more points 10 times and 30 or more points on three occasions in 2022-23.
Redhawks End Skid
The Redhawks put an end to a three-game losing streak with their 78-64 win over Eastern Illinois (Feb. 16). Southeast Missouri led for the entire game against the Panthers. SEMO beat EIU twice in a season for the third-straight year.
Home Finale
Saturday is Southeast Missouri's final home game of the 2022-23 campaign. SEMO's matchup with Southern Indiana closes out a three-game homestand for the Redhawks.
Balanced Effort
Eight different Redhawks got in the scoring column during Southeast Missouri's win over Eastern Illinois (Feb. 16). Aquan Smart matched a career-high 14 points to lead the way. Dylan Branson followed with 12 points, while Phillip Russell added 11 and Nate Johnson pitched in 10. SEMO also forced 20 turnovers and assisted 17 of its 28 made field goals.
Hanback Steps Up
Mason Hanback scored a season-high eight points in seven minutes off the bench against Eastern Illinois (Feb. 16). Hanback did not miss a field goal going a perfect 4-of-4.
How Sweep it Is
The Redhawks chalked up their second series sweep of an Ohio Valley Conference opponent with their 78-64 win over Eastern Illinois (Feb. 16). Southeast Missouri also swept Little Rock in two games this season.
Redhawks at Home
Southeast Missouri is 8-4 at the Show Me Center with wins over Lyon College (83-46, Nov. 12), William Woods (87-49, Nov. 22), SIU Edwardsville (82-73, Dec. 31), Lindenwood (94-71, Jan. 12), Tennessee Tech (84-77 2OT, Jan. 21), Tennessee State (92-75, Jan. 26), Little Rock (99-98, Feb. 2) and Eastern Illinois (78-64, Feb. 16), and losses to Purdue Fort Wayne (89-68, Dec. 7), Southern Illinois (70-68, Dec. 21), UT Martin (80-60, Jan. 19) and Morehead State (65-59, Feb. 11) this year. SEMO scored over 80 points in eight of its 12 home contests. One more win will give Brad Korn its most home victories in a season as the Redhawks head coach.

Southern Indiana brings a two-game winning streak to Cape Girardeau this weekend. USI beat Lindenwood and Little Rock during that stretch. The Screaming Eagles lead the Ohio Valley Conference in 3-point field goal percentage. USI made 282 threes in 728 attempts for a 38.7 percent clip. USI also tops the league in rebounding margin with a +4.7 mark. Isaiah Swope averages 14.5 points per game and Jacob Polakovich (12.6 rpg) is the top rebounder in the conference for USI.
