Track & Field Will Host 2023 Redhawks Open Friday Afternoon

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. - Southeast Missouri track & field will be back in action on Friday, February 17, to host the 2023 Redhawks Open at the SEMO Recreation Center. 
 
The meet is scheduled to begin at 3:30 p.m with pole vault followed by other field events.
 
The track events are scheduled to begin at 6:00 p.m. with the 55-meter preliminary round, and will finish up with the final event slated for 7:15 p.m.
 
Last Time Out
The Redhawks competed in the Hoosier Hills Invite Friday, February 10 at Bloomington, Ind. where 15 personal bests were set and multiple first place finishes. 
 
Terrico Garrett set a PR and set a new school record for the Redhawks in the 800-meter. Garrett set the new record with a time of 1:50.11. 
 
Taylor Fox also broke a Southeast Missouri State school record. She broke the record and earned a new PR In the women's mile, setting the record with a time of 4:48.41. 
 
In the men's weight throw Dylan Clark topped all competition with a first place finish with a  69-5.25 (21.16m) while also setting a personal record.
 
Katie Wegmann finished the women's 3000-meter race with a time of 9:47.71, a new personal best and earning her first place. 
 
In the men's 3000-meter, Nick Cimmarusti finished first in the event with a run of 8:23.75.
 
Mark Crawford finished at the top of the podium in the 600-meter while also posting a new PR (1:19.52).
 
For the women's 600-meter, Erika Mellor set her PR in the event while placing first overall with a run of 1:37.48. 
 
In the women's high jump Sophie Dubis, placed third with a jump of 5-3.25 (1.61m) while notching a new personal record.
 
Marshall Swadley set a new PR in the Men's Shot put with a throw of 56-10.75 (17.34m).
 
Mackenzie Pugh also broke her personal record in the 3000-meter with a time of 10:51.38.
 
Connor Moore earned a new personal best in the 400-meter race, crossing the line at 51.32
 
In the women's mile, Madalyn Gray finished fifth with a time of 4:57.37 for a new personal best.
 
The men's pole vault saw Tanner Koontz place fourth while breaking his personal record. His new record is 15' 6.25 (4.73 m).
 
Where We Rank
Luke Hatfield Jackson is ranked 22th in the NCAA and first in the conference for the high jump. Jackson jumped 7' 0.5" (2.15m) at the John Gartland Invitational Jan. 20.
 
Jackson is also ranked 35nd in the nation and first in the conference for his 25-0.75 (7.64m) long jump at the 2023 Redhawks Invite (1/14).
 
Parker Feuerborn is ranked 20th in the nation and first in the OVC in weight throw. The senior achieved a 71' 8.75" (21.86m) mark at the John Gartland Invitational Jan. 20.
 
Dylan Clark is ranked 32nd in the NCAA and second in the OVC in weight throw. Clark threw      69' 5.25" (21.16m) at the 2023 Hoosier Hills Invite Feb. 10.
 
Breanna Miles is ranked third in the OVC for the 60-meter (7.63), first in the 200-meter (24.28), and fifth in the 400-meter (57.61).
 
Terrico Garrett is ranked first in the OVC in the 800-meter (1:50.11).
 
Madalyn Gray is ranked second in the conference for the women's 800-meter (2:14.22) while teammate Brianna Payton is ranked fourth (2:15.59).
 
Katie Wegmann is ranked third in the mile (4:55.78), third in the 3000-meter (9:47.71), and fourth in the 5000-meter (17:32.65) in the OVC.
 
Hannah Eastman is ranked fifth in the 5000-meter (17:45.71).
 
Taylor Fox is ranked fourth in the OVC in the 3000-meter (9:53.20), first in the mile (4:48.41) and first in the 800 (2:10.56).
 
Nick Cimmarusti is ranked fifth in the 3000-meter (8:23.75).
 
Freshman Clara Billing is ranked fourth in the OVC for the 60-meter hurdles (8.95) and first for pole vault (12' 11.75", 3.96m).
 
In the 4x400 the team of Michael Weaver, Markeith Crawford, Terrico Garrett, Brock Wood is ranked fourth in the OVC (3:19.23).
 
In the women's 4x400 the team of Breanna Miles, Erika Mellor, Brianna Payton, Laila Hardin is ranked second in the OVC (3:52.65).
 
The team of Michael Weaver, Markeith Crawford, Terrico Garrett, and Justin Splitt are ranked second in the distance medley (10:10.13) in the OVC.
 
In the women's distance medley, the team of Taylor Fox, Erika Mellor, Brianna Payton, and Madelyn Gray are ranked first (11:52.61)
 
Serena Williams is ranked second in the conference for the high jump (5' 5", 1.65m), and third in the triple jump (38' 4.75", 11.70m).
 
Sophie Dubis is ranked fifth in the OVC for high jump as well (5' 3.25")
 
For the men's pole vault Colin Beers is second (15' 5.75", 4.72m), Sullivan Gleason third (15' 0", 4.57m), Tanner Koontz first (4.73m, 15' 6.25"), and Shea DeGraaf fifth (13' 10", 4.22m).
 
Skylar Prescott is ranked fourth in the conference in the women's pole vault (11' 5", 3.48m).
 
In the men's shot-put Marshall Swadley ranks first in the OVC (17.34m, 56' 10.75"), Dylan Clark fourth (53' 8.5", 16.37m).
 
In the women's shot-put Megan Deimeke is ranked third in the OVC (43' 2.5", 13.17m) and second in weight throw (57' 6.5", 17.54m).
 
Piper Klinger is ranked first in weight throw (  62' 3.25", 18.98m).
 
In the men's weight throw Marshall Swadley is ranked fourth in the OVC (61' 10.5", 18.86m) and Clay Alewelt fifth (60' 5", 18.41m).
 
Makenzie Williams has the third best throw in the women's weight throw (56' 10.25", 17.33m).
 
Kaitlyn McGinnitey has the second-best finish in the conference for the Pentathlon with 3208 total points.
 
Isaac Readnour has the third best finish in the OVC for the Heptathlon with 4618 total points.
 
Team Rankings 
The Men's Track and Field team is ranked 10th in the Midwest region with 77.81 total points and third in the OVC with 496.36 total points.
 
The men's weight throw team is ranked fourth in the nation, the long jump team is ranked 29th and the shot put team is ranked 26th in the nation.
 
The Women's Track and Field team is ranked 23rd in the Midwest region with 16.25 total points and first in the OVC with 763.75 total points.
 
The women's weight throw team is ranked 24th in the nation and 27th in pentathlon.
 
Records Broken
Luke Hatfield Jackson, a senior from Arnold, Mo. broke the SEMO record in the high jump at the John Gartland Invitational Jan. 20. Jackson jumped 7' 0.5" (2.15m) to break the former record of 7' 0.25" held by Reggie Miller in 2013.
 
Parker Feuerborn, a Graduate Student St. Michael, Minn. broke the SEMO record in the weight throw at the John Gartland Invitational Jan. 20, when he achieved a 71' 8.75" (21.86m) mark. The record was 69' 6.25" held by Kevin Farley in 2015
 
Breanna Miles, a Junior from Memphis, Tenn. broke the SEMO record in the women's 200-meter with a time of 24.28 at the PNC Bellarmine Classic February 3rd. She broke the former record of 24.35 held by a different Breanna Miles in 1994.
 
Terrico Garrett, a junior from University City, Missouri, set a new school record in the 800-meter for the Redhawks at the Hoosier Hills Invite February 10th. The previous record time was 1:50.42 set by Carl Bell in 1984, but Garrett set the new record finishing with a time of 1:50.11. 
 
Taylor Fox, a junior from Mt. Zion, Illinois, broke the Southeast Missouri State school record in the women's mile at the Hoosier Hills Invite February 10th. She crossed the finish line at 4:48.41 almost three seconds faster than the previous record of 4:51.94 set by Janelle Quigley in 1998.
