Southeast Missouri (0-2) plays host to Missouri Valley Conference foe Evansville (2-0) in its home-opener Wednesday. Tip-off is set for 6:30 p.m., CT at the Show Me Center.

Series History
Southeast Missouri and Evansville are scheduled to meet twice in a 10-day span this season. After Wednesday's game the two will hook up again at the Coke Zero Sugar Classic in Chattanooga, Tennessee on Nov. 25. UE holds a 12-8 lead in the all-time series between the teams. SEMO beat the Purple Aces each of the last two times it faced them -- 75-73, in Cape Girardeau on Dec. 8, 2021; 67-61, in Evansville on Nov. 16, 2022.
Home-Openers
The Redhawks are 24-8 all-time in home- openers since joining the NCAA Division I ranks in 1991-92. Southeast Missouri began its home slate with a win in eight of the last 11 years and posted victories in 15 of its previous 18 home-opening contests. The Redhawks won their home-opener in five of their last seven seasons.

Brad Korn is 2-1 against Evansville as Southeast Missouri's head coach. Korn's teams beat the Purple Aces each of the last two seasons.

Battle Tested Early
Southeast Missouri enters Wednesday's game on a two-game losing streak after dropping a pair of tough road games early. SEMO fell, 88-67, at Grand Canyon (Nov. 6) and, 91-56, at Butler (Nov. 10). The Redhawks last began a season with back-to- back road games in 2018-19.
Larson Starts Strong
Adam Larson is off to a nice start for Southeast Missouri this season. Larson scored double figures in back-to-back games for the first time in his career. He led SEMO with 13 points at Grand Canyon (Nov. 6) and 11 points at Butler (Nov. 10). Larson came off the bench in each of those contests. He scored all of his points in the second half against Butler. Larson is SEMO's top scorer with 12 points per game and leads the team with six 3-pointers made thus far. Additionally, he has seven double- digit scoring games in his career.
Free Throw Disadvantage
The Redhawks were outscored, 45-17, at the free throw line in their first two games of the 2023-24 season. Opponents held a hefty +28 margin at the charity stripe. Southeast Missouri was outscored, 19-6, at Grand Canyon (Nov. 6) and, 26-11, at Butler (Nov. 10) in free throws. Opponents also shot 29 more free throws than the Redhawks during that stretch (61-32).
Martin Second in OVC in Assists
Point guard Rob Martin ranks second in the Ohio Valley Conference with eight assists in two starts this season. Martin recently had five assists at Butler (Nov. 10). He is behind Southern Indiana's Jack Champion who leads the league with 13 assists.
Earley Tied for First in Steals
Josh Earley enters the week tied for first in the Ohio Valley Conference with six steals. Earley and Eastern Illinois' Tiger Booker share the top spot in that category.
Larson Leads OVC in 3-Point PercentageÂ
Adam Larson is shooting an Ohio Valley Conference best 60 percent from 3-point range two games into the 2023-24 campaign. Larson made three 3-pointers in each of his first two contests. He is 6-of-10 from beyond the arc this year. Larson has 45 three-pointers made in his career.
About the Purple Aces
Evansville is off to a 2-0 start this season after beating both Miami (Ohio) and University of Health Sciences and Pharmacy at home. Four players are averaging double figures in the scoring column for UE so far. Ben Humrichous leads the way with 14.5 points per game, while Braylon Jackson (14 ppg), Yacine Toumi (11.5 ppg) and Chuck Bailey III (10.5 ppg) round out the group. The Purple Aces lead the Missouri Valley Conference in scoring (94 ppg), scoring defense (55 ppg allowed), scoring margin (+39), field goal percentage (.538) and field goal percentage defense (.333) through their first two games.
