Southeast Missouri heads northbound on Interstate 55 to face Saint Louis in its first midweek matchup of the season Tuesday. First pitch is set for 4 p.m., CT at the Billiken Sports Complex.
SEMO enters the week winners in five of its last seven games and is coming off back-to-back series wins over Illinois State (3-1, Mar. 5-7) at home and SIU Edwardsville (2-1, Mar. 12-13) on the road.
Three Redhawks, including
Tyler Wilber (.375),
Wade Stauss (.306) and
Andrew Keck (.302) are hitting over .300 through 14 games. Stauss is also on a six-game hitting streak, while Keck recently hit .417 with four runs, five hits, a double, one RBI and four stolen bases in SEMO's Ohio Valley Conference opening series victory over SIUE.
As a team, SEMO leads the OVC with 25 stolen bases in 30 attempts. The Redhawks are also currently second in the league with seven wins.
Wilber rates fifth among OVC leaders in batting average, while
Peyton Leeper tops the conference in triples (3) and Keck is first in stolen bases (9).
Meanwhile, SLU is in the middle of a 12-game home stand. The Billikens won two of three against Western Illinois on Mar. 12-14.
Cam Redding is the Billikens top offensive threat hitting .345 with 19 hits, 10 runs scored, five doubles, a home run and 14 RBI. SLU leads the Atlantic 10 with a .972 fielding percentage.
