CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. – Southeast Missouri women's tennis (3-3) heads to Peoria, Illinois, Saturday to compete against Bradley (1-2). Doubles will open the dual at 1 p.m., CT at the Clubs at River City.
SEMO enters the weekend riding a three-match win streak after sweeping its series at Missouri State on Feb. 12 (6-1) and Feb. 13 (4-2) and ousting Arkansas State, 5-1, on Feb. 7.
Romana Tarajova paced the Redhawks with three wins (two doubles and one singles) last weekend in Springfield, Missouri. Tarajova extended her win streak at no. 2 singles to three matches after she defeated Ellie Burger, 6-4, 6-4, on Feb. 12.
Tarajova also teamed up with
Kseniya Zonova for a pair of doubles victories at the top position. The duo leads the Redhawks with a 2-0 mark in 2021.
Freshman
Daniela Hlacikova also pushed her singles win streak to 5-0 with victories at the third (4-0) and second (1-0) slots over Missouri State.
Vivian Lai heads into Saturday's dual with a three-match singles win streak. Lai picked up wins at the fourth (1-1) and fifth (2-1) lineup spots against the Bears this past weekend.
Ksenia Shikanova (3-1) edged MSU's Mary Houston on Feb. 13 for her third singles win in 2021.
Lera Valeeva captured her first career dual singles win on Feb. 13 after she defeated Claire Martin. The sophomore from Ekaterinburg, Russia, also teamed up with
Teona Velkoska for a doubles victory at the third position on Feb. 12.
Bradley has fashioned a 1-2 record thus far in the 2021 season. The Braves recently overcame Eastern Michigan, 4-1, on Feb. 13 for their first win of the campaign after falling to Illinois-Chicago, 6-1.
Sandra Maletin was named the Missouri Valley Conference Women's Tennis Player of the Week after she swept her pair of matches at the top singles position against EMU and UIC.
SEMO next returns to Cape for a home-opening doubleheader against William Woods on Monday, March 8. Matches are set for 12 p.m. and 3 p.m., CT at the Redhawks Tennis Complex.
