ANCHORAGE, Alaska – Anna Kaziska captured the vault, beam and all-around individual titles Friday evening at the Alaska Airlines Center as Southeast Missouri women's gymnastics finished second at Alaska Anchorage's Tri Meet with a team score of 189.500.
Kaziska won her first three event titles in 2020 Friday to increase her career total to 14. The sophomore from Louisville, Kentucky, matched her career-best beam routine with her third career mark of 9.875 to earn the crown. She also won the all-around with a total of 38.950 and placed first in the vault with a 9.675.
Dahlia Solorzano-Caruso was second in the all-around competition (38.650) and runner-up on vault with a 9.650.
Molly Maxwell finished fourth in the all-around, totaling 37.600 over the four disciplines.
Southeast opened the tri meet with a 46.400 on bars. Kaziska and Solorzano-Caruso each posted 9.650s to tie for fourth overall at the meet.
Jordan Jones added a 9.500 in her Redhawks debut.
In the second rotation, SEMO compiled a 47.850 on beam. Kaziska matched her personal-best score of 9.875 for the third time in the Red and Black. Jones (9.750) and Maxwell (9.725) both registered their first career 9.700 or higher scores at Southeast during the rotation.
Solorzano-Caruso chipped in a 9.625.
Jones placed fourth overall at the meet for beam while Maxwell was fifth and Solorzano-Caruso took sixth.
SEMO totaled a floor mark of 47.475 in the third rotation. Kaziska paced the Redhawks with a 9.750 for third at the tri. Solorzano-Caruso notched her second consecutive floor score of 9.725 in the fifth lineup slot for fourth at the meet.
Lindsey Moffitt was third on Southeast with 9.650 on floor.
The Redhawks concluded the tri meet in The Last Frontier with a 47.775 on vault. Kaziska (9.675) and Solorzano-Caruso (9.650) notched the top two scores at the meet.
Maxwell improved on her mark from her Redhawks debut last Saturday at Missouri with a 9.575 Friday to tie for fourth overall. Sophomore
Makenzie Marciniak added a 9.525 in her second career collegiate meet for sixth. Moffitt rounded out the SEMO scorers with a 9.350.
The host Seawolves were first in the tri meet with a team score of 191.125 in their season opener. Wisconsin-Eau Claire was third at the meet with 177.600.
The second place finish is Southeast's first team win over an opponent in competition since the 2018 Midwest Independent Conference Championships on March 23 when the Redhawks finished fourth (two wins over Centenary and Illinois State) out of six teams.
Southeast wraps up its trip to Alaska with a dual against Alaska-Anchorage on Sunday at 5 p.m., CT (2 p.m. Alaska Standard/Daylight Time) at the Alaska Airlines Center.
