DENTON, Texas – Seven members of the Southeast Missouri women's gymnastics team competed at the 2018 USA Gymnastics Women's Collegiate National Championships for the first time in program history Friday afternoon at the Kitty Magee Arena on the campus of Texas Woman's University.
Alexis Brawner and
McKinzie Jones both advanced to Sunday's individual event finals at 1 p.m. with top five finishes in their session.
Brawner placed tied for second on vault in the first session on Friday with a score of 9.800. Jones also finished tied for second on balance beam with a career-tying score of 9.850.
Brawner added a 9.825 bars routine and totaled a 9.850 on floor (seventh).
Jones chipped in a 9.825 on floor (10
th) and ended the meet with a 9.275 on bars.
In the third rotation,
McKenna Stanley of San Antonio, Texas, posted a season-high bars score of 9.825. Stanley and Brawner both placed tied for sixth out of 32 competitors on the discipline.
Megan Dennis, a Lewisville, Texas native, registered a career-best beam score of 9.775 in the third rotation for tied for 12
th in the first session.
Alana Fischer posted a 9.750 on beam and then tallied a 9.425 on bars.
Gabrielle Adams added a 9.550 on vault.
Samantha Gallet matched her personal-best bars score of 9.775 and also recorded a 9.500 on vault.
Southeast's individual qualifiers rotated with Bridgeport, Lindenwood, Air Force and Penn.
