The Redhawks face Southern Illinois in their final tune-up before Ohio Valley Conference play. Southeast hosts Morehead State to open its 30-game league slate this weekend. The Redhawks and Eagles begin a three-game series Friday at 3 p.m., CT.

First-Inning Deficits
Southeast fell behind in the first inning during six of its seven home games this season. The Redhawks rallied to win three of those contests in the seventh inning or later. Opponents have scored 13 rusn in the first inning against Southeast this year.

Mr. Clutch
Trevor Ezell has delivered in the clutch several times this young 2018 season. Ezell drove in multiple runs in either the eighth or ninth inning on three occasions. At Arkansas State (Feb. 20), he tied the game with a two-out, two-RBI double in the top of the ninth inning. Ezell then tied the Redhawks series finale against Bowling Green (Feb. 25) with a one-out, two-RBI triple in the bottom of the eighth, a game which Southeast came back to win, 9-7. Most recently, Ezell hit a two-out, two-RBI single to grab the Redhawks a 2-1 advantage in the top of the eighth inning at Memphis (Feb. 27).

OVC Leader
Trevor Ezell is leads the Ohio Valley Conference with a .510 batting average. Ezell is the only player in the conference hitting over .500. He also ranks among the OVC's top five leaders in slugging percentage (5th, .714), on-base percentage (5th, .550), hits (1st, 25), RBI (3rd, 16), total bases (3rd, 35), total plate appearances (t3rd, 55), at-bats (1st, 49) and steal attempts (t1st, 6).

Holyfield to Make Third Midweek Start
Right-hander Ashton Holyfield will make his third midweek start Tuesday. Holyfield gave Southeast a strong outing at Memphis (Feb. 27), becoming the first starting pitcher to go at least six innings this season. He allowed just three hits and a run in six innings. Holyfield shutout the Tigers for five frames, matched a season-high four strikeouts and walked two, as well. It was his second no-decision of the year.

12-Game Hitting Streak
Second baseman Trevor Ezell ran his hitting streak to 12 games during last weekend's series with South Dakota State (Mar. 2-4). Ezell has collected multiple hits in nine of his 12 starts this season. The longest hitting streak of Ezell's career to date is 18 games from Apr. 9-May 13, 2016.

It was the first multi-hit performance of his career. The five runs batted in are the most of any Redhawk in a game this season.

Vick, after allowing four runs in the first inning, settled down to retire 14 of the final 17 hitters he faced.
