CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. – Gabrielle Adams and
Alexis Brawner captured event titles but Southeast Missouri women's gymnastics (3-8, 1-2 MIC) dropped a 193.625-191.325 decision to Illinois-Chicago (3-8, 1-0 MIC) in its Pink Up Meet Sunday afternoon at Houck Field House.

Adams won her first career event title with a personal-best score of 9.800 on vault in the opening rotation. Brawner took the floor event title with a 9.875 in the final rotation for Southeast.

Lindsey Bates finished second in the all-around competition with a total-score of 38.475. Sunday's meet against the Flames was the first time Bates had competed in all four events since Jan. 15 versus Lindenwood. UIC's Mikailla Northern won the all-around crown with a score of 39.050.

The Redhawks opened the dual meet with a 48.275 on vault. Adams led the way with a 9.800 and Brawner added a 9.700 on the apparatus.
Mackenzie Slee and
Samantha Gallet set season-highs for third and fourth on SEMO. Slee matched her career-high with a 9.625 and Gallet added a personal-best score of 9.600. Bates rounded out Southeast with a score of 9.550.

In the second rotation, Southeast shifted to bars and scored a 46.225. Gallet recorded a team-high 9.725 in the fifth position for SEMO. Bates added a score of 9.625 for second on the Redhawks.

SEMO regrouped and tallied a 48.150 on beam in the third rotation.
Alana Fischer finished second at the meet with a score of 9.770 and Bates notched a 9.650 on the discipline.
Megan Dennis added a career-best score of 9.625.
Michael Sanders added a score of 9.600 and
McKinzie Jones had a 9.575.

The Redhawks finished the meet on floor where the team totaled a 48.675. Brawner won her 48th career event title (12th in 2018) in the final rotation with a 9.875 on floor in the anchor position. Slee finished second at the meet behind Brawner with a career-best score of 9.775. Adams added a 9.700 and Jones posted a 9.675. Bates scored a 9.650 for fifth on SEMO.

Southeast travels to Shreveport, Louisiana, on Friday, Feb. 23 for a dual with Centenary. The Redhawks conclude the weekend with a quad meet at Texas Woman's in Denton, Texas, with Centenary and Bridgeport.
