Redhawks Host UIC in Pink Up Meet
Southeast Missouri women's gymnastics (3-7, 1-1 MIC) hosts Midwest Independent Conference opponent, Illinois-Chicago (2-8, 0-0 MIC), in its annual Pink Up Meet Sunday at Houck Field House at 1 p.m., CT.

• Pink Up Meet presented by Saint Francis Healthcare System
    -All cancer fighters and survivors receive free admission and will be recognized at the meet.
    -The Redhawks will wear special edition pink leotards and pullovers at the meet to promote breast cancer awareness.
  -Fans are encouraged to wear pink in support of breast cancer awareness.Â
• The first 200 fans in attendance will receive a Pink Up Redhawks bracelet.
• The first 100 kids to enter Houck Field House will receive a set of trading cards showcasing the Redhawk senior gymnasts.
• Post meet autographs.

Looking at the Opponent
UIC enters the meet after falling to Northern Illinois, 195.025-193.625, on Sunday, Feb. 12 in their home opener. Mikailla Northern placed third in the all-around competition with a score of 38.900 and Ashley Albrecht finished fourth with a season-high total of 38.775.

Northern led the Flames on vault with a 9.800 for second overall at the dual. Kayla Baddeley finished tied for third with a vault of 9.775. Albrecht posted a team-best 9.750 on bars for third overall at the meet. Baddeley added a third place finish on beam with a 9.800. Toni Alicke led UIC on floor with a 9.775 for second at the dual.

The Flames are 2-8 in 2018 and face SEMO on Sunday to open their MIC schedule. UIC posted their season-high of 194.250 on Feb. 2 at Eastern Michigan and are currently ranked 52
nd.

Western Michigan Dual Recap
Southeast Missouri was edged by #33-ranked Western Michigan, 192.425-191.650, Friday, Feb. 2 at Houck Field House.
Alexis Brawner won both the vault (9.775) and floor titles at the dual with the Broncos. Brawner won the floor title when she matched her career-best score of a 9.900 in the final rotation.

The Redhawks recorded a season-best bars score of 48.375 at the dual.
Samantha Gallet recorded her first career score of 9.700 or higher with a 9.750 beam routine for second on the team behind Brawner who posted a 9.800.
Jordan Williams added a career-best score of a 9.650 on the discipline.
Alana Fischer scored a 9.600 on bars and
Lindsey Bates had a score of 9.575.

McKenna Stanley recorded a season-best vault score of 9.550.

Brawner Named MIC Gymnast of the Week
Senior
Alexis Brawner earned MIC Gymnast of the Week honors on Wednesday, Jan. 31 after she won individual titles in five of six events in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Brawner won floor (9.900), vault (9.825) and bars (9.800) at Penn and then took first in vault (9.800) and floor (9.875) and finished third on bars (9.75) in a quad meet at Temple with Ithaca and Cornell. The award marks the sixth career MIC honor for Brawner and her first in 2018. She is also the second Redhawk to win a MIC Weekly honor this season.

Bates Wins MIC Newcomer of the Week
Freshman
Lindsey Bates was named the MIC Newcomer of the Week on Wednesday, Jan. 17 after she won her first two career all-around titles against Illinois State (38.950 on 1/12/18) and Lindenwood (38.250 on 1/15/18).

First Win of 2018
The Redhawks earned their first win in 2018 when the team edged fellow MIC school, Illinois State, 193.300-191.175 on Friday, Jan. 12 in their home opener at Houck Field House. Acting head coach
Brittney Emmons recorded her first career victory as head coach at the dual.
Alexis Brawner won vault with a score of 9.775 and took the floor title with a 9.825. Brawner also tied with
Lindsey Bates for the title on bars with Illinois State's Alyssa Wiggle with scores of 9.725. Bates also tied for first on beam with ISU's Gabrielle Cooke with a 9.700 and won her first career all-around crown with a personal-best 38.950.

Roster Breakdown
The Redhawks are relatively young with seven freshmen and five sophomores. Top returners for Southeast include 2017 MIC All-Around and Vault Champion,
Alexis Brawner,
McKenna Stanley along with juniors
Allyson Bell and
McKinzie Jones. Brawner also earned MIC Gymnast of the Year in 2016 and represented SEMO at the NCAA Regionals in the all-around competition the past two seasons.

2017 in Review
SEMO placed fifth at the MIC Championship in 2017 behind Lindenwood, Texas Woman's, Illinois State and Illinois-Chicago. The Redhawks will look to improve on their 8-16 overall record. Southeast had a team regional qualifying score of 192.330.

Looking Ahead
The Redhawks travel to Shreveport, Louisiana, on Friday, Feb. 23 for a dual with Centenary. SEMO concludes the weekend with a quad meet at Texas Woman's in Denton, Texas, with Centenary and Bridgeport.Â
