A Peek at What's Ahead
Southeast continues its road stretch this weekend to play its conference bye week up north at Western Michigan out of the Mid-American Conference. The series begins Friday afternoon at 2 p.m., CT. After a few days off from competition for finals week, the Redhawks will pick OVC play back up at Belmont May 12-14 before wrapping up the regular season against Eastern Kentucky May 18-20 at Capaha.
Series History
Southeast narrowly holds a 21-19 advantage over the Billikens in the all-time series. Last season, the teams split the home-and-home series on each other's field. Southeast swept the series in 2015 for the first time since 2005. Southeast's win on the road in the 2014 snapped a six-game losing streak to the Billikens.
In the Last Meeting
The Redhawks opened the home-and-home series with Saint Louis on Apr. 18 with a 13-2 victory at Capaha. With the win, Southeast Missouri officially defeated all three other Division I teams in the state of Missouri this season. In his first Redhawk start,
Ryan Losman pitched five complete innings, allowing just one run which came in the first inning, and only three hits. He fanned seven and issued just a single walk. The Redhawks scattered 15 hits against the Billikens.
Chris Osborne,
Chris Caffrey, and
Danny Wright all recorded three hits. Osborne and Wright each drove in a quartet of runs while
Dan Holst drove in three. Southeast chased SLU starter Keith Kutzler out of the game in the second inning. He pitched one and a third innings, allowed the first six runs on five hits. He walked two and hit two batters. The Billikens used six total pitchers including Kutzler Tuesday.
Scouting the Billikens
