SIU was victorious in game one in Carbondale, 6-5. The two teams have split the series in 2015, 2014, 2012, and 2010 with SIU sweeping in 2013. SEMO last swept in 2011.

Nate Green tied a season-long six innings of work in his sixth start. He allowed four SIU runs on seven hits, didn't strike out or walk any. This Tuesday's starter Jamison Steege (1-1) earned the win in relief. He worked two scoreless innings, allowing only two hits. Southeast's offense was held to six hits.
Clayton Evans and
Tristen Gagan picked up a pair of base knocks each. Southeast struck out only four times; however, SEMO hit into a season-high four double plays, three of which were inning-ending.Â
