Southeast Missouri baseball (12-10, 4-5) welcomes Austin Peay (11-13, 4-5) to Capaha Field for a three-game Ohio Valley Conference series this weekend. First pitch of the series opener will be at 6 p.m. Friday. Saturday's game will begin at 2 p.m. with the Sunday finale beginning at 1.

Series History
Southeast Missouri leads the all-time series with Austin Peay, 50-35. The Redhawks fell in last season's regular-season series in Clarksville, only winning game three of the series.
Chris Osborne recorded his cycle against APSU last season in the Sunday victory. The Redhawks got their revenge in the tournament, eliminating the Govs, 10-4. Prior to last year, the Redhawks won the series the previous three seasons, with the 2013 and 2015 series being at Capaha.
A Peek at What's Ahead
Southeast sets its sights on a home-and-home midweek series with Arkansas State April 4 and 5. Tuesday's game will be played in Jonesboro and will serve as a make-up game for the postponed matchup from Mar. 7. The Redhawks and Red Wolves will immediately turn around and play in Cape on Wednesday. First pitch for both games is at 6 p.m. Southeast will then hit the road for a three-game OVC series at Eastern Illinois next weekend.
Scouting the Govs
Austin Peay enters this weekend's series with an 11-13 overall record and an identical OVC record as the Redhawks, 4-5. On the road, APSU is 2-7 this season with road wins over North Carolina State and Murray State. The Govs began conference play with a sweep of Jacksonville State then dropped two of three to Murray State on the road. This past weekend, Austin Peay was swept by Tennessee Tech at home. APSU was outscored in the very offensive series 38-24. First baseman Dre Gleason ranks second in the league with a .427 batting average while utility Alex Robles ranks 10th with a .396 clip. Gleason is nearly slugging .800 and leads the OVC with a .533 on base percentage. He also ranks second with 35 RBI and has drawn the third-most walks in the conference with 19. As a team, the Govs ranks third nationally in home runs (43) and slugging percentage with a team .527 clip. Aside from hitting the ball, Robles has recorded a 3-3 record in six starts on the mound this season. He has a 5.80 ERA in 35.2 innings of work. He has struck out 42 hitters and walked only 10. His strikeout figure ranks sixth in the OVC.
Wizard of Osborne
Right fielder
Chris Osborne extended his hitting streak to 15 games on Tuesday, a career-long for the redshirt-senior. During the streak, Osborne is hitting .450, driven in 20 runs, slugged .700, and recorded a .521 on base clip, all of which lead the team in that span. During the streak, Osborne has seven multi-hit games and a team-best six multi-RBI performances. Since his last hitless game (Western Illinois, 2/26), he has raised his batting average up 173 points from .208 to .381.

'Show Me' Baseball
The four Division I baseball teams in the state of Missouri (SEMO, Missouri, Missouri State, Saint Louis) are a combined 65-29 (.691) this season. Under former SEMO head coach Steve Bieser, the Missouri Tigers are sporting a 21-4 record. Southeast is the only team that plays the three other programs. The Redhawks have earned wins over Missouri State and #23 Missouri already this season.
Taming the Tigers
Southeast Missouri defeated in-state rival Missouri on Tuesday, Mar. 28, 6-5. Since the series was rekindled in 2013 after a six-year hiatus, the Redhawks have won four of the six total meetings, all in Columbia. Four of the six games have been decided by three runs or less with Tuesday's game being the second one-run game.

Dan Holst led the squad last season with a .475 on base percentage and currently leads this season with a .486 clip. His .478 career on base percentage ranks sixth among active Division I players.

Danny Wright and
Connor Basler have made their presence known early in their rookie campaigns. The two have combined for 10 multi-hit games and are hitting a combined .313 towards the bottom of the lineup. In his last nine starts, Wright is hitting .406, slugging .625, and been on base 53 percent of his plate appearances. Defensively, the two have committed only one error each up the middle.
Hang In There, Slugger
Chris Osborne not only finished as the team and conference leader in slugging last season, he was the national slugging champion with a .741 slugging percentage. So far this season, he is slugging .619 and his career .700 slugging percentage leads active Division I players and ranks 10th in all of college baseball. His career. 372 batting average ranks 10th in Division I.
