Regional Rivalry RenewedThe Southeast Missouri and Southern Illinois baseball teams will renew their regional rivalry Tuesday when the Salukis come to Cape Girardeau for a 6:30 p.m. game. Southern Illinois is currently 7-28 on the season but are coming off a series win over Missouri Valley opponent Indiana State over the weekend.
Garret Stockton will be on the mound for Southeast, making his seventh start of the season. The game can be viewed for free on the OVC Digital Network and can he heard on SEMO ESPN 92.9 FM.

Upcoming PromotionsSoutheast Missouri will be hosting a number of promotions this upcoming weekend when the Redhawks host Jacksonville State.

Let's ReviewSoutheast Missouri went 2-2 last week. Southeast capped the week with their sixth Ohio Valley Conference series win of the season. Southeast took two of three from Eastern Illinois on the road. The Redhawks won game one 21-1, their largest margin of victory of the season. After dropping a 9-5 decision in game two,
Alex Winkelman and the Redhawks came back to blank the Panthers in game three, 5-0.

OVC Pitcher of the Week Junior left-handed pitcher
Alex Winkelman's complete game shutout of Eastern Illinois Sunday has earned him adidas® Ohio Valley Conference Pitcher of the Week honors, the league announced Monday. Winkelman allowed six hits in Sunday's start against Eastern Illinois. He struck out four Panther hitters and walked only one in nine innings of work. Sunday's win was Winkelman's first of the season after suffering a number of no decisions this season. It was Winkelman's first pitcher of the week honor of his career.

OVC Pitcher of the Week Three-PeatWith
Alex Winkelman earning OVC Pitcher of the Week, the Redhawks have earned the honor three straight weeks.
Joey Lucchesi picked up the award on Mar. 30 and
Travis Hayes earned it a week ago on Apr. 6. This is the first time since 2008 Southeast has had three OVC Pitchers of the Week and its the first time in program history that Southeast has won it three weeks in a row.

Assisting From AfarThe Redhawks rank among the best in the nation in outfield assists. Southeast has 13 assists from the outfield this season.
Trevor Ezell, who splits time between the outfield and the infield, has a team-high five while
Dalton Hewitt has four.

NCAA Home Run ReportThe NCAA released a report stating that home runs in collegiate baseball have increased 39% from a year ago. For Southeast Missouri, home runs have increased 45% percent, above the national average. The Redhawks hit 31 homers at the end of March this season. At the end of March last season, Southeast had hit only 17.

Patience (at the Plate) is a VirtueThe Redhawks are the second most patient team at the plate in the nation as they rank second in base on balls with 208. That is first in the OVC, 25 more than Jacksonville State.
Trevor Ezell ranks ninth nationally in the category with 32 while
Dalton Hewitt is 20th with 29. The Redhawks have three players in the top 5 in the OVC including
Jason Blum (25).

Looking AheadOVC rival Jacksonville State comes to town April 17-19 for a three-game series at Capaha Park. Friday's game against the Gamecocks will be at 6:30 and will feature the first free tailgate of the season. Saturday's game will also be a free tailgate and will begin at 2 p.m. Sunday's finale will be Bark at the Park and is slated to begin at 1 p.m.
