Southeast had 13 of its turnovers in the second half during a game that resulted in a combined 44 fouls between the two teams.

"Tonight was very disappointing and I thought we took a step backward," said Southeast head coach
Dickey Nutt. "Everything we did didn't work. A bad night simply got worse."

MSU outrebounded the Redhawks, 44-35, and held a commanding 20-8 advantage on the offensive glass. The Eagles outscored Southeast 44-26 in the paint and 20-5 in second chance points.

Antonius Cleveland stole the ball from Kareem Storey underneath Southeast's basket and quickly made a layup to cut MSU's lead to three (56-53) with 3:29 left.

After that, things came apart for the Redhawks.

Corban Collins buried a three-pointer immediately after Cleveland's layup. Collins' three started a 13-0 run as the Eagles put the game out of reach.

Jarekious Bradley, Southeast's leading scorer, had two technical fouls while MSU made its final run.

The Eagles knocked down seven free throws to extend their lead to 69-53 with 1:13 remaining before closing out their first conference win.

Southeast missed five of its first six shots of the game and fell behind 10-2 in the first 3:15.

Isiah Jones' three-pointer gave the Redhawks their first lead at 19-17 with 6:11 left to play in the first half.

Neither team led by more than three points the remainder of the opening period which ended with Brent Arrington driving the lane for a layup with two seconds on the clock, sending MSU into the locker room with a 30-28 edge.

Southeast shot 47.8 percent (22-of-46) from the field and 21.4 percent (3-of-14) from three-point range. The Redhawks also went 10-of-24 at the free throw line.

Jones scored a game and season-high 20 points to lead Southeast. He shot 8-of-15 from the field and pulled down a team-high seven rebounds in 32 minutes.

Bradley followed with nine points, just the second time this season he fell below double figures in the scoring column.

Nino Johnson added a game-high four blocks and is now just two away from breaking the Redhawks all-time career record. Johnson has 155 in his four-year career.

MSU had four starters in double figures. Karam Mashour (15 points, 13 rebounds) and Billy Reader (12 points, 11 rebounds) each turned in a double-double, while Storey and Arrington scored 13 and 12 points, respectively.

Southeast returns to action when it hosts Eastern Kentucky Saturday. Tip-off is set for 6 p.m., CT.
