JACKSONVILLE, Ala. - The Southeast Missouri (11-21, 3-7 OVC) softball team was swept Saturday by Jacksonville State (21-16, 7-4 OVC); dropping game one in walk-off fashion 4-2 and losing game two 13-5 in five innings.

Four complete innings of scoreless softball came to an end when Simone Patterson blasted a home run over the right-center field wall in the fifth.
With runners on first and second in the sixth, Jacksonville second baseman Kelci Johnston threaded a single through the middle to plate pinch runner Hayden Crawford and tie the game at one run apiece.
S. Patterson put Southeast back on top with a swing of the bat in the seventh with her second home run of the day, this time to left field, 2-1 Redhawks.
With two runners on in the top of the seventh, Sara Borders, Jacksonville's top hitter, stepped into the batters box and cranked a walk-off home run over the wall, giving the Gamecocks the 4-2 win.
Southeast outhit Jacksonville 7-5 in the contest.
S. Patterson and Taylor Cowan each recorded two hits in three at-bats. Alexis Anderson, Lindsey Patterson, and Leah Becker each added a hit in game one.
Jessica Guy went 2-for-3 for Jacksonville with Borders going 1-for-4 with three RBI.
Cowan (6-14) pitched 6.2 innings giving up five hits and three earned runs. Cowan pitched 3.2 innings of hitless softball in the first game of Saturday's doubleheader while striking out three Gamecock batters.
Tiffany Harbin (12-7) recorded the complete game victory, giving up seven hits and striking out six Redhawk batters.

After both teams combined for six runs in game one, they combined for 14 in the first two innings alone of game two; 11 of which belonged to Jacksonville.
The Redhawk offense started with a single from Anderson who scored on a single and an error off the bat of L. Patterson, who advanced to second on the play. Cowan earned a base after being hit by a pitch and Xia Wilson drew a base on balls to load the bases. Chelsea Smith hit a single to the second baseman who knocked it down, allowing two runs to score but nabbed Wilson advancing to third with a 4-6-2-5 putout, ending the inning.
The Gamecock offense exploded in the bottom of the inning with five runs. With bases loaded, Savannah Sloan doubled to left center, driving in two runs. Hannah Clemons came in to pitch for starter Cowan after the two-run double. Johnston hit an RBI single to plate Kalee Tabor, tying the game at 3-3. Amanda Martinez drove in the remaining runners with a two-RBI single to right field, 5-3 Jacksonville after one inning.
The Gamecocks tacked on six more runs in the second inning due, in part, to a grand slam by Cadi Oliver. The scoring began with a bases loaded walk drawn by Tabor followed by a single to second by Sloan, 7-3 Gamecocks. Oliver extended the lead by a bunch with a grand slam shot to left field, 11-3 Jacksonville.
Krystal Ruth led off the Jacksonville third with a solo shot to right. 12-3 Jacksonville.
Southeast escaped the 4.5 inning run-ruled game in the fifth, manufacturing two runs in the inning. The first run came on a bases loaded ground-out by Cowan followed by an RBI single by Wilson to keep the game alive, 12-5 Gamecocks.
Jacksonville loaded the bases with one out in the bottom of the inning and put a single past Becker at third to grab the doubleheader sweep of the Redhawks, 13-5 after five innings..
Despite giving up 13 runs, Southeast was narrowly outhit 10-8 in the night cap.
Anderson was perfect in the contest, going 3-for-3 with two runs scored. Five other Redhawk batters contributed a hit in game two.
Sloan went 3-for-4 with four RBI thanks to her grand slam. Ruth and Borders each had two hits in the game.
The full Redhawk pitching staff saw action in the contest. Cowan, the losing pitcher of record, pitched 0.1 innings, giving up four runs, only two of which were earned. Clemons pitched 0.2 innings, giving up six runs; Lauren Reinagel saw the most action, 2.0 innings, only giving up one run; and L. Patterson worked 1.1 innings, giving up two runs.
Savannah Hennings (3-0) pitched 4.0 innings, giving up all five of the Redhawk runs, striking out two Redhawk batters, and walking only one.
The Redhawks return to action Sunday in Cookeville, Tenn. As they take on the Tennessee Tech Golden Eagles in a noon doubleheader.
