Redhawks Fall to Lindenwood Sunday

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. – Lindenwood (23-20, 12-9) scored three runs in the top of the seventh inning to pull away with a 6-3 win over Southeast Missouri (14-28, 10-10) Sunday afternoon at the Southeast Softball Complex.
 
With the win, LU completed a series sweep of the Redhawks.
 
Tied, 3-3, Kylee Crowder delivered a two-out single to score Madison Noll for the go-ahead run. Then, Karter Skill hit a pinch-hit two-run home run to finish off the win.
 
Down, 1-0, SEMO took its first lead with three runs in the bottom of the fourth inning.
 
Madison Winkler led off the inning with a single to center and went to second on an error. Aubrie Shore followed with a single up the middle and Winkler scored. On the next play, Brannon slugged a two-run home run deep over the right field wall to give the Redhawks a 3-1 advantage.
 
SEMO's three-run push came after Crowder gave the Lions their one-run edge in the top half of the inning.
 
LU tied things up in the sixth inning on a pair of two-out hits, including one by pinch-hitter Madison Adams and one by Teryn Brown. Brown's hit brought the game to a 3-3 deadlock.
 
LU outhit SEMO, 9-6, with Crowder going 2-for-3 with three runs scored and two RBI to lead the way. Anna Sanders also had two hits for the Lions.
 
Winkler went 2-for-3 with a run scored, while Brannon was 1-for-3 with a run scored and her team-high fourth home run of the season.
 
Samantha Roulanaitis (5-1) got the win in relief. Roulanaitis threw four shutout no-hit innings with three strikeouts and two walks allowed.
 
Willow Van Haren (3-7) took the loss. Van Haren went the distance allowing six runs on nine hits. She walked four and struck out three, as well.
 
SEMO returns to action when it travels to Morehead State on Apr. 25-26.
