SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – The Southeast Missouri baseball team dropped an 11-4 decision to in-state rival Missouri State Wednesday afternoon in the 101
st meeting between the two schools. The Redhawks fall to 12-14 overall with the loss as the Bears improved to 15-6 on the season.

Dalton Hewitt and
Andy Lennington led the Redhawks with a pair of hits apiece. The Redhawks tied a season-high with four doubles all of which came in the first three innings.
The Bears recorded a season-high 17 hits in the contest. Designated hitter Koby Peebles led the Bears going 4-for-4 with three runs scored.
The Bears got on the board in the bottom of the first inning after the Redhawks stranded the bases loaded in the top of the frame. Luke Voit highlighted the stanza with a three-run homer to left field.
The Redhawks responded with four runs in the top of the second inning to cut the Missouri State lead to 5-4. Hewitt drove in the Redhawks' first run of the game on an RBI single to left center.
Bieser later scored on a double steal with Hewitt to cut the Bears' lead to 5-2.
Matt Tellor added a two-run double to right centerfield to cap off the Southeast surge later in the inning.
The Redhawks could not add another run in the contest as they left 10 runners on base. The Bears added more runs in the contest with a run in the third inning, three runs in the fifth inning and two in the seventh frame on their way to the 11-4 victory.
Tyler Thomas (1-1) got the loss for Southeast allowing five runs in the opening frame. Matt Hall (2-0) earned the win going 3.1 innings for the Bears.
The Redhawks return home tomorrow evening as they host UT Martin in a three-game Easter weekend set at Capaha Field.
