Quick Tips

Redhawks Return Home
Southeast Missouri (11-12, 3-6) returns to action when it hosts Eastern Kentucky (16-6, 6-3) Saturday. Tip-off is set for 5:30 p.m., CT, at the Show Me Center.

Happy Birthday Rowdy
Rowdy the Redhawk's 8th Birthday celebration will be Saturday at the Show Me Center. All upper-level and behind-the-basket tickets are just $8. Rowdy's mascot friends from around the area will be on hand to join in on this fun-filled family event.

Three-Game Homestand
Southeast opens February with a three-game homestand, beginning Saturday against Eastern Kentucky. The Redhawks will also play host to SIU Edwardsville (Feb. 7) and Eastern Illinois (Feb. 9) during that stretch. Four of Southeast's seven February games are at the Show Me Center.

OVC West Division Race Tightens
The Redhawks, who look to snap a two-game losing streak, are currently in a log jam in the Ohio Valley Conference's West Division. UT Martin upended Eastern Kentucky Thursday, and is now the fourth team with three league victories on that side of the OVC. Murray State leads the West with a 6-2 mark, while SIU Edwardsville (3-5), Southeast (3-6), Eastern Illinois (3-6), UT Martin (3-7) and Austin Peay (1-7) follow. The Redhawks (.333 OVC winning percentage) are tied with EIU for seventh in the overall conference standings. Southeast still has to play the other five in its division once more down the stretch.

Series History
Eastern Kentucky holds a 23-18 lead in its all-time series against Southeast. The Colonels presently own a four-game winning streak at the Show Me Center. EKU has taken eight of the last 10 meetings between these teams. Its only two losses against Southeast during that span came at the Ohio Valley Conference Tournament each of the last two seasons. Although the Redhawks beat EKU in Cape Girardeau during the 2007-08 season, that win was vacated. Therefore, the last time Southeast defeated the Colonels on its homecourt was Jan. 2, 2006 (68-62).

Welcome to the Club
Marland Smith reached 100 career steals when he finished with two at Eastern Illinois (Jan. 26). Smith is the first Southeast player to get 100 or more steals in a career since Paul Paradoski had 110 from 2004-07. He ranks tied for third on the team with 15 steals this season and is now eighth on the school's all-time career list.

How May I Assist You?
Lucas Nutt went over 100 assists in a season for the second time in three years. Nutt had a game-high five at Eastern Illinois (Jan. 26), pushing his total to 102 for the season. He last accomplished the feat when he had 112 assists in 2010-11. Nutt had four or more assists in each of his last four starts and ranks fourth in the Ohio Valley Conference, averaging 4.4 per game. He is sixth with 343 career assists at Southeast.

Rebounding the Difference
Rebounding has been the difference since Southeast began its Ohio Valley Conference season. The Redhawks have been outrebounded in six league games. More recently, Southeast has lost the battle on the boards in four of its previous five contests. The Redhawks were outrebounded, 168-119 (-49), in those four losses.
