JACKSON Tenn. - Southeast Missouri senior third baseman
Trenton Moses was named the 2012 Ohio Valley Conference Player of the Year on the eve of the league's postseason tournament Tuesday. It is the second-straight season where Moses has garnered the award.

Moses, who hails from nearby Advance, becomes only the third player in OVC history to win multiple Player of the Year awards, joining Murray State's George Dugan (1963, 1964, 1965) and Jacksonville State's Clay Whittemore (2007, 2008).
He was named Adidas OVC Player of the Week twice this season and led the league in batting average (.426) and home runs (19). Moses fell just two RBI shy of becoming the first player to win the OVC triple crown in 30 years. In addition, Moses, who is the fourth Southeast Missouri player to win the coveted OVC Player of the Year Award, led the conference and the nation in both on-base (.549) and slugging (.802) percentage, as well.
Gibson was Southeast's other First-Team selection.
A native of Bonne Terre, Gibson shined in the outfield with great defense and a 29-game hitting streak. He finished the season hitting .333 with seven home runs and 38 RBI, ranking third in the OVC with 31 in conference play.
Gibson was named National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) National Hitter of the Week, CollegeBaseballInsider.com National Player of the Week and OVC Player of the Week after recording a .571 batting average with three home runs and 13 RBI against UT Martin.
Parmley and Simmons were Southeast's Second-Team honorees.
A native of Goreville, Ill., Parmley made his mark in NCAA history with a historic 47-game hitting streak. His streak tied for third all-time in NCAA Division I history.
Parmley ranked fifth in the OVC with a .366 batting average this season. He registered 83 hits which rated third in the OVC and 23rd in the country. Parmley was fifth in the OVC and 26th in the nation with 131 total bases. Not to mention, he has 11 home runs, 13 doubles, 38 RBI and a .443 on-base percentage (8th in the OVC).
Simmons is from Scott City and leads the Southeast pitching staff with six wins a 4.74 ERA. He tied a league-high in wins during OVC play.
A right-hander, Simmons led the league in strikeouts (84), 28 of which were looking in OVC games alone. Simmons ranked second in the OVC in strikeouts per nine innings (10.22).
Newcomers Barnes, Blum and Lennington were named to the All-Freshman Team.
Barnes, who hails from St. Louis, hit .265 in OVC play. He added four home runs and 23 RBI in 38 starts this season. Barnes hit a home run in his first career at-bat at Dallas Baptist.
Blum, who is out of Ste. Genevieve, saw action at both corner outfield positions. He hit .274 in 19 conference games and notched 11 RBI. Blum ranks fourth on the team with 12 doubles.
Brentwood, Tenn., native Lennington rounds out Southeast's All-Conference picks.
He finished the regular-season with a .287 batting average, 10 doubles, three home runs and 29 RBI. Lennington hit two of his home runs and posted 11 RBI against conference opponents.
Eastern Kentucky's Matt Fyffe took Pitcher of the Year honors, while Eastern Illinois' Brant Valach was named Freshman of the Year. EKU head coach Jason Stein garnered the Coach of the Year award.
