Baseball Welcomes SIUE to Capaha Field for Regular Season Finale

The Redhawks Host SIUE in a key OVC series at Capaha Field, this week Southeast will play their series on Thursday, Friday and Saturday

This Weekend at Capaha Field
Southeast Missouri (19-33, 10-14 OVC) hosts SIUE (26-26, 12-12 OVC) in a key Ohio Valley Conference contest at Capaha Field this weekend. The Redhawks stand one half game ahead of the Tennessee Tech in the OVC standings for the final spot in the 2012 OVC Baseball Tournament.

Senior Day and Redhawk Baseball Tailgate
Southeast will honor six seniors on Saturday afternoon as they play their final game at Capaha Field. Saturday afternoon also marks the final Redhawks Baseball tailgate of the season. The Cape Girardeau Elks Lodge #639 will provide food with the John A. Huber Brewing Company providing drink.

Record Setter
Senior shortstop Kenton Parmley broke two school records in a 5-3 win over Jacksonville State. Parmley broke Jeremy Johnson's school record for hits in a career with a double to left centerfield. He also broke Zach Borowiak's school record for at-bats in a career (830). Parmley now stands at 292 hits in his career and 853 at-bats.

Going Streaking
Senior Trenton Moses extended his hitting streak to 20- games over the weekend against Murray State. Moses has also reached base in 72- straight games dating back to last season. Moses has reached earned a hit in 49 of the Redhawks 52 games this season. He has sported hitting streaks of 19 games dating back to last season and 18 games dating from March 3 to March 30.

Strikeout Leader
Southeast Missouri junior Shae Simmons leads the Ohio Valley Conference in strikeouts with 78 on the season. Simmons is 5-1 in the OVC this season. Simmons ranks seventh in appearances at Southeast and he ranks third all-time at Southeast in batters struckout looking.

Closing Time
Southeast Missouri sophomore Christian Hull has four saves on the season. His four saves is tied for seventh in a single season at Southeast Missouri. Hull leads the Ohio Valley Conference in batters struckout looking with 29 on the season.

Watch List
Senior Trenton Moses was named to the USA Baseball 60-man midseason Golden Spikes Award Watch List on Tuesday afternoon. The Golden Spikes Award goes to the top amateur baseball player in the country.

Southeast Missouri shortstop Kenton Parmley was named to the 2012 Brooks Wallace Shortstop of the Year Award watch list. The Wallace Award, sponsored by Mizuno, recognizes the nation's top shortstop.

Cosida All-District Honor
Kody Campbell was named Capital One Academic All-District Six by the College Sports Information Directors of America. The honor recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances athletically and in the classroom. First-team Academic All-District ® honorees advance to the Capital One Academic All-America® Team ballot.
