CHARLESTON, Ill. – The Southeast Missouri baseball team dropped their series finale contest with Eastern Illinois Sunday afternoon in Charleston, Ill. falling 10-0.
Senior
Kenton Parmley extended his hitting streak to 36-games in his final at-bat as he broke Kerry Robinson's 35-game hitting streak record set in 1995. Parmley's streak dates back to last season.
Trenton Moses extended his reaching base safely streak to 49-games with a single as he broke Eric Hortsman's school record of 48-games set in 2005. Moses' streak dates back to last season.
“Real proud of both of the guys, they are excellent players,” said head coach Mark Hogan.
Eastern Illinois jumped out to an early lead in the contest with four runs in the bottom of the first inning. The frame was highlighted by a three-run home run from T.J. McManus, his first home run of the season.
The Panthers then added runs in the third, fifth, six and eighth innings on their way to the win.
Sophomore
Derek Gibson extended his hitting streak to 13-games going 2-for-4 on the afternoon for Southeast.
Ryan Kendall (0-2) picked up the loss for the Redhawks going five inning allowing five earned runs on five hits.
Eastern Illinois starter Tony Barton (4-2) got the win going seven scoreless innings with seven strikeouts.
McManus led the Panther's offensively going 2-for-3 with two home runs and four RBI.
The Redhawks return home on Tuesday to take on Mid-Continent University at 4:00 p.m., CT. at Capaha Field.
