Quick Tips

Redhawks Return Home
Southeast Missouri (6-5) returns to Cape Girardeau to host Central Arkansas (3-3) Saturday. Tip-off is set for 5:30 p.m., CT, at the Show Me Center.

80s Night
The Redhawk men's and women's basketball teams will have their first home doubleheader of the season Saturday. The women will take on Western Illinois at 3 p.m. prior to the men's matchup with Central Arkansas. Fans are encouraged to help celebrate 80s Night, as this year marks the 25th Anniversary of the Show Me Center. The doubleheader will feature 80s music, special edition game programs and much more. There will also be special guest appearances by the 1987-88 Southeast basketball teams.

Road Warriors
Southeast played eight of its first 11 games on the road, but returns home for five of its next six contests. After Saturday's contest, the Redhawks will break for final exams. Southeast will be on a lengthy 11-day layoff before playing host to New Orleans on Dec. 19. Southeast logged a total of 3,795 miles via charter bus to six different non-conference stops (Lawrence, Kan., Chattanooga, Tenn., Chicago, Ill., New Orleans, La., Hammond, La. and Columbia, Mo.) during its rugged road stretch.

Undefeated at Home
The Redhawks are undefeated at home with a 3-0 record this season. Southeast beat Lyon College (89-61, on Nov. 12), McNeese State (64-53, on Nov. 15) and Hannibal-LaGrange (96-55, on Nov. 26) in their three games at the Show Me Center. Southeast is 13-4 in its previous 17 home games dating back to the start of the 2011-12 campaign.

Big First Half
Southeast played its best first half of the season in its latest effort at No. 11 Missouri (Dec. 4). The Redhawks poured in 8-of-15 three-pointers for a 53.3 percent clip from behind the arc to grab a 45-35 halftime lead. Southeast also shot 55.2 percent (16-of-29) from the field and had six different players get in the scoring column during the game's opening 20 minutes against the Tigers.

Series History
The Redhawks meet Southland Conference member Central Arkansas for the 10th time in 2012-13. Southeast holds a slight 5-4 edge in the all-time series. The Bears visit Cape Girardeau on the return trip from a home-and-home series which began last season. Central Arkansas beat the Redhawks, 88-72, in Conway a year ago.

Home Winning Streak
With a win against Central Arkansas Saturday, Southeast will match its longest non-conference home winning streak under head coach Dickey Nutt. The Redhawks are currently on a three-game winning streak against non-league teams at the Show Me Center. Southeast last won four-straight non-conference games at home in 2011-12 (vs. Harris-Stowe, vs. Hannibal-LaGrange, vs. Miami-Ohio, vs. Southeastern Louisiana).

Against the Southland Conference
Central Arkansas marks the third opponent from the Southland Conference that Southeast faces this season. The Redhawks are 2-0 against such teams after beating McNeese State (64-53, on Nov. 15) at home and Southeastern Louisiana (61-58, on Dec. 1) on the road. Southeast has squared off against five schools from the Southland Conference during its basketball history. The Redhawks are 12-6 all-time against Southland foes, holding a 5-4 record vs. Central Arkansas, a 0-1 record vs. Nicholls State, a 4-0 mark vs. Southeastern Louisiana, a 2-0 record against Texas-Arlington and a 1-1 record vs. McNeese State.

Do It Again
Forward Tyler Stone will look to have another big performance against Central Arkansas. Stone's only 30-point game of his Southeast career came against the Bears on Dec. 5, 2011. He shot 12-of-18 from the field and a near-perfect 6-of-7 at the free throw line during that game. In addition, Stone had eight rebounds and two blocks.

Rolling Stone
Tyler Stone, who leads Southeast and ranks 11th in the Ohio Valley Conference in scoring with 15.5 points per game, reached double figures in the scoring column 10-straight games. Stone scored double figures in a career-long 16-consecutive games (Nov. 29-Feb. 2) during the 2011-12 campaign.

Smith Moving in on 200 Career Assists
Marland Smith, after becoming the third player in Southeast history to make 200 career three-pointers on Nov. 29 (at New Orleans), is now moving in on 200 career assists. Smith currently has 195 and is second on the team with 21 this season. Additionally, Smith went over 3,000 career minutes when he played 17 at Missouri (Dec. 4). He has 3,001 in his four-year career.

Tough Defense
Missouri became the first team to shoot 40 percent from the field against Southeast this season. The Tigers shot 44.8 percent on 30-of-67 attempts. The Redhawks lead the Ohio Valley Conference and rank fifth in the nation in field goal percentage defense. Opponents are shooting just 35.5        percent (247-of-695) against Southeast's defense. The Redhawks are also second in the OVC defending the three, limiting opponents to 25.1 percent (56-of-223) behind the arc. Prior to that game, no team had shot better than .387 against Southeast this season.

Heating Up From Downtown
Southeast heated up to shoot 55.3 percent (36-of-65) from three-point range in its last four games. The Redhawks drained nine or more threes in three of those contests. Southeast made a season-best 11 treys twice this year and boasts a season-high 81.8 percent (9-of-11, at Southeastern Louisiana) from behind the arc. A.J. Jones (13-of-23, .565) and Corey Wilford (23-of-49, .469) are the Redhawks top three-point threats in a minimum of 20 attempts.

Block Party
Southeast forward Nino Johnson leads the Ohio Valley Conference and ranks 24th nationally with 30 blocks in 11 starts this season. Johnson, who ranks third on the team in scoring with 11.5 points and first in rebounding with 9.5 boards per game, has had multiple blocks in nine contests. He finished with a season-high five swats against Louisiana Tech (Nov. 19) and is averaging 2.7 blocks per game. Most recently, Johnson had four blocks, including three on one possession against Missouri (Dec. 4). Southeast leads the league with a total of 52 blocked shots, a +5 advantage over Austin Peay (47).

Do I Know You?
Former Southeast guard LaQuentin Miles is Central Arkansas' second-leading scorer entering Saturday's matchup. Miles was with the Redhawks in 2009-10, Dickey Nutt's first year as head coach. He averaged 2.8 points and two rebounds, while dishing out 31 assists and collecting 11 steals in 23 games and two starts that season. Miles was a Third-Team All-Conference selection at Central Arkansas a year ago and is currently the Bears' second-leading scorer with 13.2 points per game.
