Western Nevada: Two-year letter winner at Western Nevada College in Carson City, Nev.… Earned first team All-League honors and was named league tournament MVP… Helped lead his team to an eighth-place finish in the Junior College World Series. 

Prep: Four-year starter and letter winner at North Salem High School in Salem, Ore.… In his career, he hit .450 with 16 home runs and 148 RBI… Named league player of the year his junior season as well as earning all-league and all-state honors his junior and senior campaigns… Helped lead his team to a league championship his senior year… Also an all-league performer on the North Salem football squad.
