Women's Soccer Picked Ninth in 2025 OVC Preseason Poll

BRENTWOOD, Tenn. – Southeast Missouri Women's Soccer was picked to finish ninth in the 2025 Ohio Valley Conference Preseason Poll, the league announced on Thursday afternoon.
The Redhawks received 57 points in the 'Predicted Order of Finish' voted on by the league's head coaches and communications staff. SEMO finished 39 points ahead of 10th place Western Illinois (18).
Tennessee Tech was picked to finish first after receiving 14 first-place votes and 156 points, followed by Lindenwood (6) with 146 points, and Little Rock with 127 points to round out the top three.
Morehead State (103), Eastern Illinois (86), and Southern Indiana (78) placed fourth, fifth, and sixth. SIUE (65) and UT Martin (64) completed the rest of the preseason poll in seventh and eighth place, respectively.
SEMO Soccer is coming off a 2024 campaign that saw the Redhawks finish 3-11-3 overall and a 3-5-3 mark in OVC play. The Redhawks were the #7 seed in the 2024 OVC Tournament, falling in the tournament's quarterfinal round to Lindenwood.
Junior midfielder Justi Nelson landed on the 2025 Preseason Watch List as the Redhawks' lone representative. Nelson played in 16 matches a season ago, starting 15 of them in the middle of the park.
She scored her lone goal of the season in the first round of the OVC Tournament against Eastern Illinois and dished out an assist. She finished the 2024 campaign with three points, averaging .19 points-per-game.
The Redhawks will enter the 2025 season under first year head coach, John Klein, with a season-opening match against Evansville next Thursday, August 14, in Cape Girardeau. Kickoff is slated for 6 p.m., CT. at Houck Field.
