CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. – Marvin Rosengarten passed away on August 16, 2025, at the age of 95.
Rosengarten was a football student-athlete at Southeast Missouri and later served as an assistant football coach, track coach, Director of Athletics and Director of Athletic Development.
He led SEMO Athletics from NCAA Division II to its current NCAA Division I state. His tenure produced hundreds of All-Americans. The building on campus, which houses the football program's locker room, athletic training room and coaches' offices is named the Rosengarten Athletic Complex in his honor.
Rosengarten was inducted into the SEMO Athletics Hall of Fame as part of the inaugural 2002 Class.
A funeral service is scheduled for 10:30 a.m. at Berger Memorial Chapel (9430 Olive Blvd., St. Louis, MO) on Wednesday, August 20. Interment follows at United Hebrew Cemetery (7855 Canton Ave.).
Memorial contributions preferred to Congregation B'nai Amoona, Southeast Missouri State University, the Jewish Federation of St. Louis and the Harvey Kornblum Jewish Food Pantry.
