CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. – Southeast Missouri Baseball (27-21, 13-8 OVC) dropped the series finale to Tennessee Tech (32-17, 14-7 OVC) by a final score of 3-2 at Capaha Field on Sunday afternoon.
LHP
Haden Dow (4-4) tossed a gem on Sunday afternoon, suffering his fourth loss of the season. Dow pitched 8.1 innings without allowing a walk, and punched out seven Golden Eagles.
Trailing 3-2 in the bottom of the ninth inning, short stop
Brooks Kettering led off the home half with a walk. Center fielder
Michael Mugan pushed him all the way to third base with a single off the first pitch he saw from TTU's RHP Juan Vargas to put Redhawks on the corners with no outs.
After a fly ball to right field for the first out of the inning, a wild pitch during the at-bat of
Cole Warehime moved Mugan to second base as the Redhawks had runners on 2
nd and 3
rd with one out.
Back-to-back strikeouts ended the contest as the Redhawks couldn't push across the tying run, ending the game.
The Redhawks jumped out of the gate with a one-out solo home run by
Michael Mugan. Mugan's blast left the yard over the left field fence marking his eighth round-tripper of the season. The home run gave the Redhawks a 1-0 lead after the first.
TTU scored all three of their runs in the ballgame in the top of the second inning to take a 3-1 lead all the way into the seventh inning.
First baseman
Bryce Cannon crushed his eighth home run of the season in the bottom of the seventh inning to make it 3-2 TTU. Cannon finished the day 2-4 at the plate, with his 17
th double of the season, an RBI, and the home run.
The Redhawks outhit TTU by a final mark of 10-7, but hit just .133 with runners on base (2-15) and finished 1-11 with RISP.

SEMO Baseball will return to OVC play on Friday, May 9 when they head to Evansville, Indiana to take on Southern Indiana. First pitch is slated for 6 p.m. in Evansville.
