Nathan Mertens of Southeast Missouri Baseball was voted the Ohio Valley Conference 'Pitcher of the Week', the league announced Monday morning.
Mertens, a native of La Canada, California, picked up his seventh victory of the season in a dominant outing against Little Rock last Thursday (5/15). Mertens pitched 7.0 innings of scoreless baseball while allowing just one hit to the Trojans.
The nation's leader in strikeout-to-walk-ratio, Mertens punched out six Trojans and did not surrender a single walk in the outing. He finished the game with a 0.14 WHIP.
He improved to 7-2 on the season with the victory on Thursday night and leads the club in wins this season.
The final weekly voting of the season, Mertens secured his third OVC 'Pitcher of the Week' honors and the sixth overall for the pitching staff.

#4 Southeast Missouri will begin the 2025 OVC Baseball Tournament on Wednesday, May 21, in Marion, Illinois. The Redhawks will face the winner of the first game of the tournament between #5 Southern Indiana & #8 Little Rock at Mtn. Dew Park.
