EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. – Southeast Missouri Baseball (19-13, 6-3 OVC) fell in the series finale with SIUE (13-17, 6-3 OVC) on Monday afternoon by a final score of 6-2 from Roy E. Lee Field.
The Redhawks jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning after a leadoff triple from short stop
Brooks Kettering got things going in the game's first at-bat. Second baseman
Carson Schrack flied to left field to record the sacrifice fly, scoring Kettering for the early lead.
SIUE used a big three-run, fourth inning, with a pair of RBI singles and an error plated three Cougars in the frame on LHP
Haden Dow. Dow (3-3) pitched 3.2 innings allowing three runs on four hits and struck out two hitters over 64 pitches.
The Redhawks got a run back in the top of the fifth inning with an RBI base hit to left field by designated hitter
Ty Stauss. Stauss drove in
Michael Mugan from second base after he stole his fourth base of the season. SEMO trailed 3-2 after Stauss' base hit.
The RBI single was the final run of the contest for the Redhawks as the Cougars added a run in the sixth, and two more in the eighth to take the series finale by a final score of 6-2.
SEMO was outhit in the contest by an 11-6 mark, led by
Ty Stauss and
Brooks Kettering who each recorded a hit. The Redhawks finished just 1-10 at the plate with runners in scoring position compared to 5-13 for SIUE.
