Southeast Missouri Baseball (23-17) will host rival Southern Illinois (27-12) on Tuesday, April 22, from Capaha Field for the second meeting this season. First pitch is slated for 6 p.m. in Cape Girardeau.Â

Southeast Missouri Baseball took two-of-three from Lindenwood in last week's OVC series winning the front and backend of the series. The Redhawks opened the series with a 2-0 victory over LU with a dominating performance from RHP
Nathan Mertens. Mertens pitched 7.2 innings, punching out seven Lions without surrendering a walk en route to his fifth win of the season. SEMO fell on Friday evening by a final score of 10-4 to setup the third and decisive rubber match on Saturday. The Redhawks throttled Lindenwood with a run-rule victory in eight innings by a final score of 11-1. OVC Pitcher of the Week
RHP
Nathan Mertens was named the Ohio Valley Conference 'Pitcher of the Week' for the second time this season, the league announced on Monday afternoon. Mertens shut down the Lions' offense on Thursday evening to the tune of 7.2 innings pitched without allowing a run. He punched out seven Lions, did not allow a walk, and surrendered just five hits en route to his fifth win of the season.Â

Saturday's eighth inning marked the first inning this season with three home runs and was the first game this season with five home runs in the same game. Outfielders

After winning two-of-three this weekend in Cape Girardeau, the Redhawks extended their home record to an impressive 14-5 this season at Capaha Field. SEMO has most recently won four-of-five inside Cape Girardeau with the only loss coming to Lindenwood last Friday evening. As a team, SEMO is hitting .285 at home to just .233 on the road.Â

The Redhawks extended their impressive winning record when outhitting their opponents after Saturday's 16 hit day. SEMO holds a 17-1 overall record when recording more hits than their opponents. In contrast, the Redhawks are just 6-16 when they are outhit and just picked up their sixth victory last Thursday with less hits.Â

Career Day for Warehime

Cole Warehime finished the series with Lindenwood with a season-high performance including a four-hit day, and two home runs in the contest. Warehime blasted his team-leading seventh and eighth home runs. For the second time this season, Warehime had two home runs in the same game and for the third time in his career. He also stole a career-high two bases in Sunday's finale.Â

th walk of the season over the weekend series with Lindenwood. The sophomore from Springfield, Missouri leads the Ohio Valley Conference in walks through 40 games, after finishing fifth in the conference a season ago in the same category.Â
